Macon, Georgia is located in the heart of Georgia. Atlanta is more toward the north of Georgia and from a geography standpoint Macon is more centralized in Georgia than Atlanta is. Macon was established in 1823 and it’s where all the crossroads in the South would come together at. Macon has just a little bit of everything and there is the city life side to Macon and enough undeveloped land to make you feel like you’re in the country. Macon is known as the “Cherry Blossom Capital of the World” with all the Yoshino cherry trees that can be found in Macon.

Macon is home to various museums and major attractions. You can find the Cannonball House, the Hay House and the Woodruff House in Macon, Georgia. The Georgia State Fair is an annual event in Macon and the Cherry Blossom Festival happens each year in Macon too. You can take part in the next Cherry Blossom Festival this spring and it happens every spring in Macon. The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame is located in Macon. I am a huge sports fan and living about 2 hours north of Macon, I have never been to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. I would like to go there sometime and see some of the legendary athletes from the state of Georgia. Georgia has been a rich source of athletes in all sports and it’s great they have a Georgia Sports Hall of Fame to showcase all the great athletes in the Peach State. The music lovers can take advantage of their own hall of fame that can be found in Macon too. The Georgia Music Hall of Fame is located in Macon, Georiga and some of the best musical talents from the state of Georgia are on display there.

Those interested in the performing arts can take advantage of the theaters located in Macon. The Grand Opera House, Theater Macon, Macon Symphony Orchestra, Macon Little Theater and Macon Arts Alliance are just some of the great perfroming arts places you can take in. These places will bring out the artist in anybody. The Douglass Theater is another great place to take in if your traveling through Macon. Some of the early great jazz players and blues players performed at the Douglass Theater. Some of the performers have included Otis Redding, James Brown, Little Richard, Ma Rainey and Bessie Smith. The Douglass Theater now serves as an educational platform teaching local children and school groups in the area about it’s rich history.

Macon has just a little bit of everything and if your ever traveling through Georgia and you go South of Atlanta, you will probably run into the town of Macon, Georgia.

I know its hard to talk about Spring Break with the temperatures outside still below freezing. Or maybe this is a great time to start talking about Spring Break. The kids are already making all their plans on where they want to go for Spring Break. They usually get a week off from their high schools or colleges and head to some place that is warm. I live in Georgia, so a lot of Spring Breakers go to Florida for their fun in the sun. I like Panama City Beach in Florida the best. Miami, Fort Laurderdal and Daytona are fun too, but I have always thought that Panama City had more to do there; than those other beaches in Florida.

So will you be making a trip for your Spring Break vacation? Maybe you just look forward to having the week off and get a chance to take a break from all your studies and the homework you have been doing. I think the best Spring Break I ever had was at Allatoona Lake here in Georgia. Some of my friends and me all packed up and went down there to camp out by the lake and we stayed there for a few days. It was a lot of fun and we didn’t spend much money; compared to a trip to Florida. We would stay up all night and sleep during the day. Once the sun would start going down, it was the best time to be at Allatoona. I love the evening-time down on that lake or any lake really. It’s great because the heat starts to let up from a hot day and the fish start jumping around in the lake too. I would fish all night long and most of the time we would just bait up our rods and leave them out in the lake all night. Someone would always go check the poles around 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning and there would be one rod with a catfish on it. The fish most times probably had hooked itself much earlier and they would swim around the whole lake area and it never failed the catfish would have our rods all tangled up. It would take us hours to try and figure out whose fishing rod caught the fish.

Now with drought in the forecast for much of Georgia, its not likely that Lake Allatoona or Lake Lanier will have any water in them for this Spring Break. I guess the kids now will have to find something else to do in Georgia and maybe they will have to just go down to Florida. They can still go camping, but they don’t have all the fun that the lake can bring to a camping trip. Let me know about your Spring Break plans.

I would like to travel to Newport someday and that’s the Newport in Kentucky. They have an aquarium there I would like to check out that’s called the Newport Aquarium. They say it’s a million gallons of fun and I bet it is. Newport, Kentucky is located in Campbell County. There is a lot to do in this growing city in Northern Kentucky. They are located real close to Ohio and Newport is at the confluence of the Ohio and Licking Rivers. The East Row District would be a great place to visit and see some of the structures that probably date back to Colonial times.

There are a lot of churches located in the area like the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church that appears to have a steeple that goes all the way to heaven.

There are a lot of great restaurants to eat at in Newport, Kentucky. One of the restaurants was even featured in the movie Rain Man that had Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise in it. Pompilio’s was the restaurant that had one of the scenes of Rain Main in it. Other notable restaurants in Newport are the Dixie Chili and Deli, Levee Perk, BRIO Tuscan Grille, The Pepper Pod, Dewey’s Pizza, Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant, Hofbrauhaus Newport, Beer Sellar, The Green Derby, Bar Louie, York Street Cafe, The Chart House, Jefferson Hall, Mocca Restaurant, Claddagh Irish Pub, and Mitchell’s Fish Market are just some of the great places you can eat at in Newport. Newport even has a Johnny Rockets and Hooters located in their Campbell County Home.

I think the riverfronts of Newport would be a great place to take a trip and hang out for a few days. I love small towns and Newport is still small enough to enjoy and it’s growing to a point that you have a lot of things you can do when you get there. So hopefully I will get a chance soon to see the rivers in Newport, eat at some of the great places and visit the Newport Aquarium too!

I see that Trusted Tours and Attractions have a lot of Southeastern U.S. cities that they keep up with. Since I live in the Southeast a lot of these cities would be a short drive for me. Atlanta, Memphis, Orlando, Savannah, Charleston, St. Augustine and Tampa Florida are just some of the great cities they offer information on. Another city that you can get interesting stories, travel tips and money saving offers from is Ft. Myers, Florida. When I was in the 3rd grade our class got to take a field trip to Fort Myers. I live 40 miles north of Atlanta, so Ft. Myers was a long way off from our school. We got to take advantage of a special offer from an airline in Atlanta. They took us to Fort Myers on a plane and the Oak Ridge Boys (country music band) was on the same flight as ours. We didn’t plan to have the band on our plane, it just so happened they were going to Ft. Myers, Florida too. It was really exciting for us and the Oak Ridge Boys gave us autographs and even walked to our section on the plane and talked to us a bit while we were in the air. Now when our plane arrived in Ft. Myers we just stayed at the airport for about an hour and then got on another airplane to carry us back to Atlanta. So I didn’t get to see much of Fort Myers then, but I have always wanted to go back and stay for more than just an hour. I will have to hook up with Trusted Tours and Travel and see just how much money I can save, when I decide to make my trip down south to Ft. Myers. I will also be looking to see what travel tips I can get and see what attractions I can do, when I do make my return trip back to Fort Myers.

I wonder if Santa and his helpers are busy at the North Pole right now? Christmas is only 15 days away and I’m sure everything is in full gear at the North Pole. I bet all the reindeers are resting up for their long journey they will have to make on December 25th. I wonder how I could get to the North Pole, if I decided to make the trip up to Santa’s Workshop?

I know Karen in Frosty the Snowman was looking for a train to get Frosty to the North Pole and it was going to be pretty expensive. Can a train really travel all the way to the North Pole? I guess this would be doubtful with all the snow and ice that would be along the way to the North Pole.  I guess a small airplane or helicopter would be your best bet to make the trip up north.

Now during the summer months when the Earth tilts the North Pole toward the sun, it doesn’t really get dark at the North Pole. That is what I hear anyways. They say it looks like evening and never gets totally dark during the summer months at the North Pole. I guess during the winter time when Santa and his helpers are preparing for the Christmas trip, you would have a lot of night time hours up there. I guess it would be one of the darkest places on Earth during the winter time. Not only would it be dark, but you would have to brave some of the coldest temps on the planet too. So while we might think of the North Pole as a fun and festive atmosphere right now, it’s probably very dark and cold at the North Pole and wouldn’t be anywhere that we would want to be.

It’s going to be hectic the next few days as everybody goes to their kin-folks house to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. Many people have already reached their destinations and most will start coming back this weekend. If you want to avoid the mass confusion, your best bet is to stay home if you can. This is a good time that we can give our environment time to take a deep breath too. If you can pick just one day over the next few where you don’t travel would be great. The high gas prices continue to soar and if we all could stay home for a day, we could probably ease some of these high prices we are seeing at the pumps.

I think the day of Thanksgiving would be the best time to just stay at home. Make that the day you just sit around, eat, and watch football on television. No need to make any trips out, as most places will be closed on Thursday. If you have to go out on Thanksgiving Day, be sure to take Friday, Saturday, or Sunday where you don’t do any traveling. If we all take one of the next 4 days off, we will see the gas prices go down instantly! So try your best to make Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday a NO TRAVEL DAY.

I would like to go to Atlantic City one day. I hear it’s a great place to take a vacation to. Atlantic City was just recently in the news about an illegal gambling ring that was going on at the Borgata Hotel. It appears that some mobsters from the Philadelphia area might have been involved in some of the dealings there. I think mobsters, illegal gambling rings, and everything like that is associated with places like Atlantic City. I think its some of those things that make people want to travel to these destinations.

I have never been to Las Vegas or Atlantic City and I hope I get the chance to go to both of them; sometime in my lifetime. I like to gamble some and taking a vacation that you have a chance for it to pay itself off, makes the most sense to me. We are going to spend money on our vacations to the beach or mountain resorts too, so might as well give us a chance to win that money back. I realize the odds are stacked against us, but the family vacation to the beach has lower odds than the casinos, if you’re looking to pay off your trip.

The location of Atlantic City is pretty good for a huge population to visit. You have the state of New Jersey and the folks in Pennsylvania that are located near all the casinos and hotels in Atlantic City. You also have New York City that is just a short drive away from Atlantic City. I think the location of Atlantic City is in a better place than building all those casinos in the dessert of Nevada. It should be interesting to see if this latest news gives the Borgata Hotel and Casino a jump in business or a decline. It makes me want to visit the casino and see what the atmosphere would be like, in a place like that.

I would like to go to Niagra Falls someday. I know a lot of people take their honeymoons or make it a romantic type of trip when they visit this breath taking scene. I would just like to go and see the raw power that water has coming off the edges. I know the falls are used for electricity purposes and I bet it is responsible for a lot of people having power in that area. I’m not sure if it’s possible for a drought to occur in that area and would hurt the amount of power it supplies to the residents up there. I know a lot of people would be without lights if the Falls was to suddenly stop.

I know we are suffering from a drought here in Georgia. Our two major dams in North Georgia produces electricity, but I haven’t heard about any problems with that, as our lakes dry up here. We need Niagra Falls to flow in our lakes for about a month to help them fill back up. Most of the experts think our biggest problems will be late in the summer next year, but right now we have about 75 days of water left, if it doesn’t rain anymore. I was just wondering with global warming and the climate changing, if Niagra Falls would ever be in danger of drying up or becoming a trickle one day? I guess a lot of ice and snow-covered mountains feed it and the hotter it gets, will just mean more water that comes through the Falls.

A drought has stricken the northern part of Georgia. The two main lakes that give water to the millions of people around metro Atlanta are drying up. Lake Lanier and Allatoona is sending more water down stream everyday; compared to the water that is coming into these two big lakes. North Georgia would be a lot better off if they stopped this drastic decrease that is occurring daily. However, the folks in Alabama and Florida also use the water from these lakes downstream and they are demanding that the flow continues.

One thing that Florida and Alabama don’t understand is that once these lakes dry up, then there will be no water for anybody. It would be better if they turned down the amount that is going down stream everyday now, and force the folks in Alabama and Florida to slow down on their consumption of this valuable supply of water. Each day that goes by with no significant rainfall, is each day that is being lost in the efforts to retain some of this water in North Georgia.

Laws were in place that date back many years on just how much water Georgia would supply its neighboring states. These laws are old and archaic and need to come off the books. We all need to be saving the water right now and that’s just not happening. The people in Florida and Alabama are still continuing to use their full supply each day and the federal government has failed to step in and solve this crisis. It’s now getting to the point where it’s too late and the people down in Florida and Alabama are going to be hurt the worse when they have to quit using the water in a sudden stop. At least the people in North Georgia are already getting use to using the least amount of water it takes to do the daily routines of our life. THANKS A LOT FEDERAL GOVERNMENT!

It looks like I will be taking a trip to Florida in the next year or so. The place where my mama works has a place in Daytona and they let the families at her job take turns in going down there for a week’s vacation. So we will be taking our trip down there one of those weeks.

It will probably be next summer when we make the trip down to Daytona. We have made this trip in the past and I look forward to going back down there for a vacation. Daytona is right on the beach and it’s on the East Side of Florida’s coastline. There is a lot of things to do down there and they are probably known best for their racetrack. It’s where they have the Super Bowl of Nascar Racing every year and is the first race of the Nascar Season. It’s also the place they hold a Saturday Night race around the 4th of July and it’s just as popular as the Daytona 500 is. That racetrack is ok, but I also love the racetrack that is right beside that one. It’s where the dogs race and is a great place to watch those greyhounds fly around the track. I won the biggest bet ever at the Daytona Greyhound Track and that’s saying a lot as many times as I have been to the greyhound track.

There is some good food that is available in the area too. I love eating fresh seafood and Florida has a ton of places that have great seafood items on the menu. I will be sure to stop at a few different restaurants, to get my seafood craving took care of. Fresh produce is available in the Daytona area too and you can find good prices on the fresh food that is grown locally down there too. I will be sure to come back and let everyone know when I set a date to go down to Daytona, Florida.

If you live in the beautiful state of North Carolina or was planning a trip to the state soon, then there is a luxurious 18 hole golf course that is in the state. The Club at Longview offers golfers some of the best conditions possible for a round of golf. A course that was designed by the great Jack Nicklaus, is a spectacular golf course that you would have a hard time trying to find a place better than this 18 holes of paradise.

If you are looking for Charlotte Golf Homes, now would be a good time to be looking into the market. Getting a home that would be situated around or near a golf course would be idea for anyone that enjoys the sport. The real estate market is starting to boom in North Carolina as more and more people are discovering the natural beauty of the southeastern state.

Many investors and people just looking for a good home for the family have recently starting pursuing Charlotte Real Estate. The cost-of-living in the area is very competitive to many parts of the country and it’s hard to find a place that has lower rates than in North Carolina. Job opportunities are increasing and finding a place to work at; in the Charlotte or nearby areas is easy to find these days. So many employers are looking for employees to meet the demands of all the growing businesses in North Carolina.

So anyone that is looking for a great place to start raising your family should give the state of North Carolina strong consideration. I’m sure you will find an area in Charlotte or somewhere in the state that you and your family will love. Are you planning a trip to Rome? I’m sad to say that I’m not, but would love to go and visit Rome some day. A city filled with so much history and not to mention all the good food in Rome. You might think it would cost a lot to go, but it’s not really that bad. Going to Rome is more affordable than you might think it is. If you do a little searching you can find some good deals on airfares and you won’t have any problems finding Cheap hotels in Rome. So if Rome has seemed like one of those places you would have never been able to afford to go to, you might be surprised just how affordable it is! When you do go, be sure to report back to me and let me know about how the Vatican looked! I’m sure you will want to visit the legendary Coliseum too! I think the Coliseum would be the first place I went to, when I got there.
