Who is watching the NBA playoffs right now? Maybe hockey is more your speed and you have been tuning into the NHL playoffs going on also. I know the city of Atlanta and the state of Georgia is on the bandwagon now and rooting for the Atlanta Hawks. They have been given the Boston Celtics fits. I think the biggest thing that has got the Hawks playing good basketball is the lack of respect they have been receiving from the media and the players on the Celtics team. The media never would entertain the thought of the Hawks winning this series and even now they all say that Boston will win this series. If Boston wants to win against Atlanta, they better shut their mouth and play basketball. The more Kevin Garnett walks around with his big mouth open and yelling things, is only giving the young guys for the Hawks motivation to beat them. If Boston would change their demeanor on the court and just act like it’s another basketball game, they would rock the Atlanta Hawks to sleep. Instead they wanted to yell and scream and beat a dead horse in the ground when they were wiping the floor with the Hawks. That has cost them two games in this series and nothing is going to be easy from here on out.

For all you basketball experts that judge teams on paper, you might want to think about the Janet Jackson lyrics right about now “What Have You Done For Me Lately“. The Atlanta Hawks have won the last two games against the Celtics. So Boston might have been the best team in the NBA during the regular season, they are not the best basketball team in this series right now. If Boston wins game 5 things will shift back in their favor, but the young Hawks are growing up and the old Celtics are just getting older. The longer this series goes, the more it will favor the Hawks from Atlanta. Go Hawks!!!

Another sad story coming out of California on Friday and it’s probably related to a shark bite. It seems over the last few years, shark bites are on the rise and it’s becoming a life changing experience for some. Some people are perfectly healthy and fine and they just go out for a short swim or some type of activity in the water and within seconds they come out of it without an arm, leg and sometimes just don’t come out of it at all. That is apparently what happened to one retired veterinarian that was off the coast of California and was probably in water that was deeper than 20 feet. It appears a shark and perhaps a great white shark came after the man and with one bite, took a huge chunk out of the 66 year old man. He did have friends in the area that quickly got to him and dragged him back to shore, but the man just bled to death at a lifeguard shack on the beach.

It really is scary to go out into the oceans these days and it’s really not safe. Some will say that the shark bites are still very few compared to just how many millions are in the oceans everyday. I realize it might be rare to get bit by a shark, but with just one encounter with a shark and your life could be changed forever and that’s saying you escape the situation with your life. I really feel bad for the man in California that lost his life today and I hope his friends and family will be able to cope with this horrible situation the best they can. This attack did occur in water deeper than 20 feet and most swimmers don’t go to depths like that, but shark attacks have occurred right next to the shoreline and any water that is waist deep to an adult is within shark attacking area. I hope many families will take precautions this vacation season and prevent this tragedy from happening to one of their own family members. Let’s don’t let the man out in California die in vain and let’s learn from the mistakes that were made (if any) and see if we can bring a halt to shark attacks on humans. Be sure to swim safe out there in the salt water and try to stay as close as you can to lots of people, if you do go splashing out in the ocean.

The recent riots in Tibet is causing much attention for the Chinese these days. The whole world has their eyes on China as the 2008 Olympics will be held in Beijing this year and China is trying to secure their Olympic interests from protesters in Tibet. A series of YouTube videos was showing some of the things that were going on in China and now the Chinese has ban the popular U.S. based company You Tube. I’m sure millions of people in China were using You Tube to upload their various videos and now the country has cut ties to any participation with Youtube and their citizens.

I’m not sure what the world thinks of this ban yet, but I’m sure a lot of innocent Chinese citizens are being punished because a few users decided to upload the protests in Tibet. I really don’t know how they can just ban a website like that, but I guess Chinese officials thought this was the best move. A lot of pressure is going to be on the Eastern Nation later on in the year to pull off the 2008 Olympics with no hitches. China has taken extreme measures over the last few weeks to insure the security of their nation and for the security of all the Olympic athletes that will be arriving in Beijing later this year. Some athletes have worked their whole lives to try and win a medal in a Olympic Event and now they might have to worry about their safety; while trying to follow their life-long dreams.

So if your in China now and your trying to bring up YouTube on your screen, all your going to get is a blank screen. That is what millions of people are seeing now as they try to bring up YouTube on their computer screens. Other user-generated video carriers in China have not had any of these controversial videos being shown and censorship is very important to the Chinese Government. I’m sure YouTube has seen a dramatic drop in traffic since China has banned YouTube from being shown in China.

Ok, not really. There is a very interesting story that is currently on all the news stations right now. It appears a nuclear power plant has shut down in the sunshine state and is causing many power outages. I think everyone’s first thought to hear about problems with a nuclear power plant was terrorists. It doesn’t appear to be the case in Florida and many think it is just a technical problem right now. I live in Georgia so that news is a big relief for me and I hope everyone in Florida has been made aware of the situation too. It can be hard to get news in your area when the power gets shut off. I have been around for many bad thunderstorms and tornados in the area and I know the helpless feeling of wanting to know what is happening, but you don’t have no television or radio, because the power is out.

It was estimated that as many as 3 million people might have loss power due to this technical problem at the power plant in Florida. My last update from CNN is saying the number is more like 100 to 120 thousand people with loss of power now, so most have got their power again and the situation has improved a lot from just a few hours ago. It looks like Florida did a good job in detecting this problem and getting it straightened out. It is amazing to think any power plant could affect so many people. We just live in a world that’s getting more overcrowded by the day and more people have to rely on fewer resources. This situation in Florida could just be a glimpse into the future when more and more things will occurr that will dramatically affect our day to day lives.

There is a new website that was just released today and I think it will be a big hit. I think I am a borderline case for insomnia or maybe just diabetes from all the bad foods I take in.

The practice of uploading videos online is becoming more popular everyday. I don’t think no one could have realized the impact of this industry and how user generated content could cover up the web. I seen a guy on roller skates, skate off a two story house and into a swimming pool. It was all caught on camera and I have watched that video a few times online. It was amazing that guy didn’t get seriously hurt or paralyzed, but he survived to be a legend on all the popular video places that kids and even the adults are going to these days. So if you want to be the next star on YawpBox, please do so with your humor or talents and not the stupid stunts that some people try to get attention from.

Scientists has recently discovered a giant rat in Indonesia. It seems we are always discovering some new species everyday and its usually some type of bug. Now that they have discovered this new rat, it makes you wonder just what else is crawling around the Earth. I don’t think many people will be happy to know that a new rat species is on our planet. Judging by the size of this new rat, I would say the cats wouldn’t even be happy with this. I couldn’t imagine most house cats attacking and killing a rat of this size.

Yeah that’s a pretty big rat!

A rat like that would be a Thanksgiving dinner for a whole neighborhood of cats. Even some of the rat traps you buy in the supermarket couldn’t do any damage to a monster like this. These rats are in Indonesia and hopefully one won’t jump on a ship and travel over here. I think this is one species that North America doesn’t need!
