The D-Day Anniversary

Many veterans and those that served in the military will always hold a very special place in their heart for this day in June. It was in the early morning hours of June 6th, when the U.S.A., U.K., and their allies would launch one of the most massive military strikes the World has ever seen. It was the invasion of Normandy in France and this is better known as D-Day. The attack would last from the first sight of daylight that day and would continue on for the rest of the day. Days and even weeks after the initial invasion on June 6th, the Allied Forces was still sending in troops and supplies on the coast of Normandy, France. A lot of good men lost their life that day from the Allied side. It was a devastating blow to the German Army and Hitler and his fighting men were caught totally off-guard by the huge invasion that was led by the Americans and British on June 6th. It would be another year later, before they would drop the big bombs on the two Japanese cities; which would be the final ending to a war that lasted many years. People that were alive in the 1940′s decade can remember a few key dates very well. It seems everyone remembers the bombs that were unleashed over the skies of Japan and the D-Day invasion in France on June 6th, 1944. The most famous date in World War II that every American can remember like the back of their hand, was on a Sunday. It was just after lunch time for those living on the East Coast, when they would hear the news coming out of Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Around 8AM local time in Hawaii, the Japanese Navy launched a deadly surprise attack on the U.S. forces and the people living in Hawaii. It was on December 14th, 1941 when this took place and President Roosevelt would later say in a speech to the American public; that it would be a day that would live in infamy and he was absolutely right about that. Just about every American living at the time, can remember where they were at and what they were doing, when they learned Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor. It was shortly after when the United States officially declared war on Japan and would officially enter World War II; which was already in progress. No one will ever forget December 14th and I’m glad a lot still remember June 6th too, because it was a very powerful invasion, but one that would cost many American and British lives that day on the beaches of Normandy.

Creating My Own Worm Bed at Home

I have been digging up worms around the house and putting them in a 5 gallon bucket. I would guess I probably found at least 100 worms. I’m hoping the size of my earthworm collection grows over time. I am looking to go fishing soon and I wanted to have a big supply of worms to go fishing with. Especially if I decide to go bream fishing. It’s pronounced “brim“, but I know the spelling is bream. These are small fish that stay near the shoreline, so they won’t get eat by the bigger fish in the lakes and rivers. Bream are good to eat, if you can catch them big enough. It’s fun to fish for bream, because you can throw out your line and have a bite almost instantly. Bream will attack your bait fast and no patience needed. You might get lucky and attract a big bass; while you’re bream fishing. So be sure you keep a close eye on the fishing pole, if you go bream fishing. I need to save up a few more worms and I plan to go real soon. I feed my worms table scraps. I give them pretty much everything, but I don’t allow no meats or cheeses to get in their dirt. I mainly just used the vegetables and breads that we have left over after dinners to feed them. The food breaks down in the soil and becomes a great source of food for the worms. These worms also help to make the soil rich, so I will probably use my worm dirt to grow some plants in. Don’t ever spend money on worms again for fishing. Just start your own worm bed in something today, so you will have worms on hand when you decide to go fishing.

I would have liked to been involved with this spin on the roulette wheel. My favorite number and my lucky number is 21. I don’t do that well in finding 21 in blackjack, but other places treat me good with this lucky number. I’m sure you have a lucky number too. What is your favorite lucky number or numbers? It’s been more than 50 years ago, when a beauty school by the name of Regency Beauty Institute got their start. It wasn’t until 2002 when students looking to enroll could select from the two beauty schools under the Regency name in Minnesota. Those two schools quickly expanded and now you can find a Regency Beauty Institute in 9 different U.S. states. Someone living in Virginia could select a cosmetology school in Virginia and it would be an extension of the schools that came from the Minnesota beauty schools. These beauty school campuses continue to grow and expand throughout the country. Many employers located in the United States seek out the graduates that come from the Regency Beauty Institute. Students that do well, at these growing number of Regency locations, can expect to find easy job placement; when it’s time for them to go out and start doing their beauty skills for a living. There is no question, that this is one of the beauty schools in America that is on the rise!

The IT Field for a Career Choice?

The IT or Internet Technology field is a fast growing industry these days. Not just anyone can work on a computer or get a group of computers to network with each other. There is a demand for all sorts of jobs in the IT workplace. I do like the Internet and have played around online for the last 10 years or so. For the last 3 years, I have took a strong interest in online advertising or learning effective ways to market online. I have mainly did this through my blogs and a traffic exchange that I get to manage daily. I have learned a lot of stuff over the last few years and know a lot more about SEO (search engine optimization) tricks and tips. I have used these new skills I have learned to help other webmasters or online advertisers get the extra traffic and visitors they desire coming to their sites.

Now about a week ago, I had a friend to start asking me a few questions. After I told him I was a full time blogger online and the things I did each day to pay the bills, he suggested I go to school for Internet Technology. I never gave the IT field a lot of thought, but since I am lost on a lot of online technology, I did think this might be a good career choice for me. I do want to make more money in life. I do want to have a nice paying job. I do have an interest in computers, so perhaps the IT industry is something I should take a closer look at.

Since my friend suggested the idea to me, it has not left my brain yet. It would be hard for me to afford the schooling right now, but I could start saving for it. I do need to make a stance some where in life and I haven’t did it to this point. The older I get, the less time I have for planning out my future. I have a birthday coming up tomorrow (November 8th) and this means another year older and 1 less year I have left to find a good job now.

Do you know the IT industry or field? Do you have any suggestions for someone like me, that is considering going to school for a IT career? My main interest is in marketing online and helping advertisers achieve their goals. Can the IT schooling help me to earn more money online and give better assistance to my customers? What exactly should a person be taking in school to work toward a brighter future in the online marketing game? I would appreciate any information you may have on the IT field and if this sounds like something I should be focusing on.

Catfish from the Cracker Barrel

Cracker Barrel is the restaurant that is known as the country store. I have ate at Cracker Barrel many times, but never tried their catfish fillets before. Until today, I decided to give them a try and they were pretty good. You have two options when you order the catfish at Cracker Barrel. You can get your catfish grilled or fried. I went with the fried catfish fillets. I like catfish in general, but prefer the bone to be left in. Fish bones give fish a better taste and it seems the bones add to the flavor; while cooking the catfish. I’m picky on filets and normally they don’t taste right for me. The fried catfish fillets at Cracker Barrel met my approval rating for fish fillets.

You can get 3 side items when you select the catfish at Cracker Barrel. I assume it is like this for all Cracker Barrel restaurants. The meat loaf is good at Cracker Barrel and I knew it came with 3 side items. Normally you get 2 sides with your meat, but for the catfish or meat loaf, they will give you a 3rd side and there is no extra charge. I ate french fries, fried okra, and green beans as my 3 side items. My mama loves the hashbrown casserole at Cracker Barrel, so she gave me a little of that to try. I was pretty full after eating 2 pieces of fried catfish fillets, green beans, okra, french fries, hashbrown casserole, and a biscuit. It was a good meal and I did enjoy it. I probably won’t get any good food for tomorrow, so I will have to enjoy this Cracker Barrel meal for a long time.

Light Pollution: Greater Problem Than Most Know

The stars are wonderful to see and this is how early man would pass their time at night. I know in my area of North Georgia we have seen less lightning bugs than we use to have. I think this is a direct cause of light pollution and lights at night do hurt some forms of nature. Most hotels along the coast have shades over their lights to help the sea turtles continue to thrive in the oceans. We need more efforts like this to help protect nature and to help us see the stars and other things in the night time skies. Try to learn more about light pollution and ways that you can help prevent it at your household. It’s all the small steps that lead to major changes and we do need to start reducing our light pollution at night.

Baseball Player Traded for Bats

A true story that occurred in the minors of major league baseball when one team traded 10 maple bats for a minor league player. That player was John C. Odom and he seem to take it in stride and would often joke about how this will be a big story when he makes it to the big leagues. The trip to the big leagues will never happen because Mr. Odom was found dead back in November of a drug overdose. Some teammates said he didn’t smile as much as he once did and perhaps being traded for bats did get to him more than it appeared to.

Once a budding star under the San Francisco Giants organization and even let future Cy Young winner Tim Linecum bunk on his couch was a small piece of the fame John Odom gained from baseball. No player should have to deal with the burden of being traded for bats and it wasn’t a good move on the team’s part. Players get traded for a variety of things these days and it’s common to hear about cash or draft picks involved in any professional sports trade. I don’t think there has ever been a case in recent times where a professional athlete was traded for sporting equipment. A major league bat made of maple isn’t necessarily a cheap item, but even with a value of 300 to 500 dollars is a sign of disrespect in terms of trade value. The sudden death of John Odom will certainly out weigh the costs the team would have given up if they would have just released the minor league baseball player. There will be a lot of mending that needs to come from this and even Major League Baseball needs to step up and take action and see that another player isn’t ever traded for a bat, balls, gloves, or any other type of sporting equipment items.
