Consumers Baking in Tanning Beds

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

I think too many people are using these tanning beds. It can’t be good for the skin and especially if it is skin that has been outdoors all summer long, trying to get a natural outdoor tan. Too much of the tanning beds or the outdoor sun is bad. Hopefully the cool temperatures have sent everyone inside for this year. It only makes things worse, when individuals or whole families suddenly adopt a tanning bed to go lay down in.

The way a tanning bed cooks a person, I’m really surprised they are still legal in this country. Our natural sun is only good for so many minutes each day; then it is considered a bad thing, for those who like to get outdoor tans. The outdoor tan or the indoor tans are not worth your health. You have too many other challenges in life, where you will need a good skin to help. The skin is our first line of defense, so its very important we take good care of it. And at what age does this madness start for people who seek tanning bed tans? Should there be a minimum age on using a tanning bed?

It would seem nobody is policing these indoor tans and everything is allowed. Not sure if young children should be allowed to make decisions about their skin at too young of an age. At least 16 years old, for people to use a public tanning bed would be a good start and at least most kids would stay safe for the first 16 years of their life. The tanning beds and outdoor sun is both bad. Anything we do too much of is always bad. We must learn to do things in moderation and getting a sun tan is normally going too far past the reasonable limits. The tanning beds found at tanning salons is a bad idea for teen girls and women who are in their 30′s and 40′s. A healthy skin will need to last 100 years now; with our modern medicine. Most of these folks getting the great summer and winter tans, are not going to have the healthy skin, to make it to the century mark. If you stop now, your body can heal and repair a lot of skin damage you have already caused. There may be some skin damage that is going to be with you for life. Stay indoors when possible in the summer time and never make plans for a trip to the sun tanning saloon.

Rising Costs of Prescription Drugs

Saturday, September 11th, 2010

The costs for medicine in the USA continues to soar at record paces. No one knows where it will end, but for a lot of Americans, it has already got too expensive. The Government or someone needs to step-in and make sure sick people in this country can afford medicine. There are some drugs we don’t need to survive; while other drugs are keeping people alive.

The young lady in the picture is of a UK citizen, who got a bad mix of prescription pills. She was going online and ordering pills off of websites; while she was self-medicating her self. Her name is Amy and unfortunately, Amy is longer with us today. Hopefully people in the UK have learned and are learning ways to combat the various different websites; which offer prescription medicines, without actually having a prescription from the doctor. I would like officials in the U.S. to take notice to Amy’s story also and realize our increasing prices on pills must stop. If they don’t, we will have our U.S. citizens going online and ordering them from other countries, where they can save a lot of money. Once these prescription drugs start arriving from other countries, there is no way for the FDA to regulate this growing drug industry outside of our borders. We can lower the costs now and avoid all of this mess down the road.

Silver Investments or Gold Coins?

Friday, September 10th, 2010

For about the last 20 years, the World demand for silver has been greater than what silver producers and mining companies can pull from the Earth. We are quickly running out of our supplies of silver and investing in silver is an attractive place for any investor. The only place where silver could see some competition, is from the rising gold markets. A lot of investors who typically invest in stocks, bonds, or other things on Wall Street, are now choosing to invest in gold coins. Many financial experts wouldn’t argue with this new trend for coin investing. If you came into a nice lump sum of money; which investment choice would you make? A big investment into the rising gold markets via coins made of gold? Or the vanishing supplies of silver and choosing to invest a chunk of change into a silver related investment?

No matter which way you would choose to go, I know of one company who could help you with both decisions. The United States Gold Bureau has a long history of the precious metals market. They are quickly becoming the top dealer in America for helping investors to find a low-cost and quality investment into a precious metals sector of the market. They are ready to help those interested in silver and taking full-advantage of a silver supply that is drying up all over the World. If you prefer coins as a investment choice for your financial portfolios, you will want the best coins in the World. The U.S. is famous for producing and selling some of the finest gold coins anywhere on the Planet. The price of gold jumps so high on some days; that you might be on the profit side in your first couple of weeks, from owning a few golden coins made in the U.S.A. coin mints. A large and dedicated staff at the U.S. Gold Bureau is on standby now; waiting for your gold or silver choice, for your next big investment into the exciting world of precious metals.

The Cheapest Gas Stations

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Where do you go to fill up? Is there a gas station in your hometown that offers really cheap gas? Or do you have to drive out-of-town to find cheap gas? I know with the mess in the Gulf with the BP oil spill, we will probably see gas prices going up real soon. We normally see a jump in prices this year anyways, since people start taking their summer vacations. The oil companies like to profit off of people taking long trips. I just wonder how high prices will get, since we do have the BP mess in the Gulf of Mexico and the vacation season is upon us. If you have any good suggestions for a cheap gas station, please be sure to pass this information along. I’m sure everyone will want to know which gas stations offer the cheapest gas.

The Games Kids Play Online Today

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

There are a lot of free kid games online today. I guess I should say kids and teens, because the teens are the biggest majority of players online, that take advantage of these free games you can find on the World Wide Web. There’s no doubt, the Net is full of free online games. We can’t just blame the kids either, for making these games so popular. It’s the adults that strive to play them just as much as our children like to play games on the computer. In fact, the 20′s crowd and early 30′s are becoming the largest group of gamers we see today. The only reason we don’t have more gamers in their 40′s and up playing, is because these ages haven’t learned how to use computers and didn’t really grow up in the video game revolution. I remember going to the arcade with a pocket full of quarters, to play Pac Man. That was one of the best video games ever and it’s still pretty popular today. The strategy games have taken over on the game consoles that people spend money to play games on. While these paid games like the new Alan Wake video game for XBox is far superior to any free online games, you can still find quality games from the computer. Parents and teachers can both use online games to help teach our little ones, how to use the computer. So starting today parents and teachers, I am laying down a challenge to you, to go out and find the free kid games online. Once they get use to using the keyboard and mouse, they can learn more important and other useful things that can be done on the computer.

Consumer Outlook for this Summer

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

What’s on your shopping list this summer? Does the budget call for a few more pairs of shorts or will it just be a nice pair of sunglasses this year? I know the shoe companies that produce flip flops and sandals always love this time of the year. They are able to market their footwear to a large consumer base. These consumers have two feet also, so you know the shoe companies get to “pair” (pun intended) their profits. Yes, we have two eyes too, but a pair of sunglasses is actually only one item. I realize shoe companies don’t just sell customers one shoe. You have to buy both shoes and they won’t give you half price, if you only take one shoe either. Still the advantage goes to the shoe companies, because they are producing two products; compared to the one production item that comes from the companies who make sunglasses. Still both manufactures do well during the summer months; since people going to the beach will have their shades and a pair of beach sandals on. The consumer outlook for sunglasses and shoes are certainly bright this year and no matter how bad the economy gets, these two manufactures will continue to thrive.

Gas Increasing at the Pumps

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

We see this every year and it looks like 2010 will be the same. Higher gas prices at the pump! The big oil companies know we like to do a little more traveling on the roadways when the weather begins to warm up some. So they will start to nickel and dime us to death at the gas pumps. This is the first sign that warmer weather is getting closer; when we do see the gas prices going up.

They have to start now, so they can have the gas prices really high during the late months of spring and in the first part of summer when most families take their family vacations. I wish Americans would have a little more self-control and avoid paying the higher prices for gas. If we can all ban together, we could prevent a lot of these prices from soaring at the gas pumps. In my area we was paying about $2.45 a gallon for gas at this time last month. I looked at a few places yesterday and seen gas prices was close to $2.60 a gallon. We had snow falling for most of the day today and the ground is white outside. They can’t even wait for winter to leave anymore, before they start their gas hikes. I think many thought a new president would solve our higher oil prices, but it appears our new president is clueless when it comes to oil and really has no answers for a new medical bill that sick Americans desperately need. If you really want to fight these high gas prices, go buy some gas cans now and stock up on cheap gas, so you can just use your gas cans when they try to over charge us at the gas pumps this spring.

Sealing the Windows for Old Man Winter

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

We have already started to feel the first signs of Old Man Winter in these first few fall nights of the season. It gets pretty cold in my bedroom at night and especially if the temperature goes below freezing. I need to correct this now, before we get that really cold weather that normally takes place right before Christmas time. The window my air conditioner is in, needs some plastic or installation on it. I think I will try to get some plastic and seal up the gaps I have now. I’m not sure if a material like ultem would be helpful in my situation, but some type of plastic sheeting needs to be put on the outside of my window. If I could just get my hands on a few pieces of plastic sheeting, then I could take some small nails and seal my window up myself. I may not be able to get it totally air tight, but I know I could decrease the gaps that are present now. These gaps are a wide open door for Old Man Winter and he never fails to overlook them when we see those really cold temperatures. The small heater in my room is no match for the cold air that rushes in through these gaps; when we get temperatures around freezing or below. If you have some gaps or spaces in your windows that cold air comes in through, you may want to find a piece of plastic to seal up your cold air problems too. You can check online with Interstate Plastics to see if they have the type of plastic products you need.

Cheap Paint Hard to Find

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

We have been in the process of painting our house over the last few weeks. One thing that I didn’t know was the cost of today’s paints. The name brand paints are really expensive and I was shocked at how much a gallon of paint can cost these days. I saw one brand selling a gallon for 28 dollars. That just sounds expensive to me and if you tried to paint an entire house at 28 dollars a gallon; then it would be a costly home improvement project to say the least.

You do save money by buying in large quantities of paint. A 5 gallon tub of paint is the best way to go in many cases. These are heavy, so you will probably need a pair of strong arms around to carry a 5 gallon canister of paint. Even the larger amounts of paint can be expensive. I guess people like Dupont that sponsor NASCAR’s Jeff Gordon have to make some money in their business to sponsor a driver on the NASCAR circuit.

If you’re getting ready to paint in the future, you may want to check the prices on paint first and break up the painting jobs around your home. It may be too costly to do an entire home at once. I think most people will only be able to afford a room here and there and will have to take a year or more, before they can give every room in their home a new coat of paint.

I would suggest staying away from the brand name paints. They are some more affordable choices out there if you look for them. A generic paint will work just as well as the expensive ones. People that are consumers of paint are just paying for advertising when they buy brand name paints or any other brand name products for that matter. Cheaper alternatives are available in the expensive paint industry and I hope you and your family can find some cheap paint out there. I think we will think twice before we decide to throw a new coat of paint on inside or outside the home. If you have any paint left over, be sure to seal it up good, so you can use it again in the future and save some money that way.

Chevron with Techron Hurting Car Engines

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Some recent information is coming in and it’s not looking good for Chevron. There has been an increase in engine parts tearing up over the last few years and lots of car mechanics have seen these damages. The belief that ethanol was causing the engine damage seemed to be the case. More ethanol fuel is being pumped into our cars when we buy gas now and this appeared to be the problem.

A recent study on gasolines has revealed that the ethanol is not to blame and it’s actually the gas from Chevron causing the problems. They do add a techron to their fuels and this is suppose to help clean engines. It may be cleaning them too well and damaging critical parts inside your car’s engine. Chevron with techron may have to come off the market and this could cost the company of Chevron and their stock holders millions of dollars.

It does seem like gas prices are back on the rise again and oil companies are still making huge profits on the American consumers. These high gas prices were under the Bush Adminstration and now we see them under the Barack Obama Administration. A new president hasn’t helped us at the gas pumps yet and the oil companies are still over charging for the price of gas.

Chevron is going to have to figure out their own problems and see what steps need to be done with the techron they currently have in their gas. I’m not sure the problem is with techron or if it’s something else Chevron is using in their gas and oil products. If you want to protect your car’s engine right now and get the most life out of your motor, you may want to avoid pumping Chevron gas into your car; until more information can be found about their harmful gas additives they are using.
