Satellite Shot Down from Outter Space

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

The USA had lost control of a spy satellite up in space. The satellite was out of control and was on a crash coarse to hit the Earth in early March. The U.S. military took action and was successful by shooting up a missle and blowing up the satellite; that contained dangerous fuels on board and sensitve spy technology information. They even have some film footage that was being shown on all the news channels today and you can see the satellite blowing up.

I don’t think the satellite now poses much of a danger for those of us on the ground. I assume all the small pieces will just burn up in the Earth’s atmosphere as they come racing toward the ground. If this mission would have failed and the satellite kept falling, it could have been a different situation and there is no telling where the satellite might have landed. I guess with 70 percent of the Earth made up of water, there would have been a good chance the satellite would have just made a splash some where in the ocean. Luckily we don’t have to find out now and the satellite shouldn’t pose a threat to anybody now. Hopefully the will correct this problem to prevent other satellites from falling back to the Earth. There was a lot of good money that just got blew up today and I think it’s time we start spending those dollars better.

Joe Johnson Cost Hawks Another One

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

Joe Johnson continues to hurt the Atlanta Hawks more than he helps. Him making the All Star Team this year is more a slap to the face to Hawks fans than an achievement. It still shows that the NBA community doesn’t recognize what is going on in Atlanta. It’s no wonder when you have the front office, coach and announcers on television continuing to promote Joe Johnson. Joe Johnson just isn’t that good of a player. He his in a system that plays him the 2nd most minutes in the NBA, all his teammates constantly look for him as the “go-to-guy” and the coach keeps calling plays for him. He is a big reason the Atlanta Hawks can’t make that next step up and the sooner the Hawks Team recognizes, the sooner they can start winning more games.

Joe Johnson shoots technical free throws for the Atlanta Hawks and is often on the court with guys that shoot a higher free throw percentage than him. Does that make sense? Why wouldn’t you award your top free throw shooter and give your team the best chance to make those technical free throws? It’s just another clear sign at how the Atlanta Hawks want to create a face for this team. In the meantime, Josh Smith continues to improve and is the heart and soul of the team. Josh Smith is the most gifted athlete in the NBA and the Hawks team just doesn’t recognize his efforts. Josh Smith is the Atlanta Hawks All Star, not Joe Johnson.

The Atlanta Hawks made a great comeback last night against one of the best teams in the NBA; Detroit Pistons. When it came down to the final two possessions for the Atlanta Hawks, coach Mike Woodson called on Joe’s number. Joe managed to shoot a backwards shot and an air ball from the 3 point line. Joe can be seen on a few highlight films making that big shot at the end for the Atlanta Hawks. There are dozens more where Joe Johnson misses the shot or just turns it over and cost his Hawks teammates the game.

Joe Johnson is not an All Star by any stretch of the imagination. He can play a part on this Atlanta Hawks team, but the guy can’t even get in the top 10 in scoring and there is no offense in the NBA which offers success for one player, like the offense in Atlanta. Kobe Bryant would average 40 points a game in this “feature offense” that the Atlanta Hawks choose to run. Mike Woodson seems to be an ok guy, but constantly tells the media after games why the team lost. Hey Mike, we can see why they lost, the question is, why did you leave the same guys out there; when you seen they wasn’t getting the job done? Many of the young players are missing valuable playing time, why we watch a role player in Joe Johnson try to shine like an All Star. The Joe Johnson experiment is over in Atlanta and it has been for some time now.

Great Win for the NY Giants

Monday, February 4th, 2008

It seems many got upset because they didn’t get a chance to see history being made. I think we already had an undefeated team to have a perfect season in the NFL and what about the history of brothers winning back to back Super Bowls?

New England Patriots have a lot to be proud of, but their coach isn’t one of them. It was a horrible display of sportsmanship that the Patriots Coach showed, by walking off the field early and not even staying out there with his team until the final second had ticked off. Mike Carey the head of officials tried to get him off the field, but the Patriots coach just continued to do what he wanted to and he just lost a lot of respect around the country.

Anybody can chat with the media and be happy while they are winning. You can really judge someone’s character when they face adversity. The Patriots head coach had a lemon handed to him and he didn’t even come close to making lemonade out of it. I think that team will split up and won’t support a loser like him. The owner of the Patriots should nip this in the bud and get rid of him now. I have never seen a coach act so rude and he didn’t even congratulate the NY Giants in their efforts of winning the big game. You don’t have to mean it, but you still have to give props to the team that just beat you. May New England’s coach ride off into the sunset with his horrible displays of sportsmanship. He better not be coaching an NFL team when they come to the Georgia Dome here in Atlanta, because he will not be having a very pleasant time here.

Good job Giants and I’m sure the state of New York and all your fans are celebrating today! I think the MVP was awarded to the wrong person and the receiver that made that sensational catch was the true MVP of the game!

Sometimes people just don’t watch what they are seeing and that was true when they was bragging on Tom Brady. Randy Moss was what made the Patriots so good. It wasn’t their overrated QB, who missed open receivers all day on Super Bowl Sunday or that poor loser of a coach they have. They failed to use Randy Moss and it cost them! After Brady’s late touchdown toss, they were still hyping up Brady; when it was Moss making the catches that led them down the field. For some reason they felt Eli Manning was the MVP and just didn’t choose to watch the game and truly see who the most valuable player of that game was!

East Wins In Atlanta

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

The Eastern Conference won the NHL All Star Game this year in Atlanta. My hometown favorite Ilya Kovaluchuk didn’t score a goal, but we are still proud of him. Marian Hossa did talley one for the East and he was the 2nd Thrasher to be on this years team. It was a fun game to watch and very close. I was a little disappointed at the skills competition the previous night. I thought VS did a horrible job covering the event. Their announcers didn’t seem to know what was going on and it made it very difficult to follow. Maybe ESPN can get next year’s all star festivites and be better prepared than the guys from VERSUS was.

There were a lot of famous people watching the All Star Game in Atlanta. I saw Garth Brooks there and he was helping raise money for charities. It was a very fun weekend with the NHL in town. I hope that the NHL will select Atlanta in the near future to host a future all star event. From all that I am hearing now; it seems Atlanta was successful in holding the event this year. Ok, I guess the NBA All Star Weekend is just around the corner and I can’t wait to watch that out in New Orleans. The NHL and NBA has the best All Star events and baseball would be third with the homerun derby. The NFL hasn’t quite figured out a way to put on a great All Star event like the other sports have.

Who Wins the Super Bowl?

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

Who is your choice to win it all in this years big game? I think most people think that the New England Patriots will win the Super Bowl in Arizona. Since no one has found a way to beat them yet and they have already beaten the New York Giants this year; they would be a safe pick. I’m not sure the Patriots can beat them 52 to 0 or some of them lopsided scores they have posted this season. The New York Giants have a good team and Plaxico Burress might be the secret weapon.

Manning has to find his big play receiver all during the game. This is how you beat the New England Patriots. Pass on them and keep moving the ball down the field. Don’t try the run game and try to shorten the length of the game. Take it to them and try to get out to a lead. If the Giants are leading the game heading into those last 15 minutes of the game; I’m not sure Tom Brady is good enough to take that kind of pressure. Randy Moss has clearly been the MVP of the league this year and is the main reason the Patriots are perfect to this point. The Super Bowl should be a good game and I look forward to watching it!

American Idol Now Playing

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Is American Idol losing it’s steam? I don’t see as many blogs or advertisements on the computer or television for them like you usually see at the start of a new season. I wonder if its because of the earlier start than last year. I believe it was last year or the year before when they started on Super Bowl Sunday. That was big advertisement for them and to come on the coat tail of the most watched sporting event every year. I’m sure the people involved with American Idol didn’t purposely choose to go before the Super Bowl and would have love the Super Bowl attention to their show.

No matter how you cut it, American Idol is back and I’m sure millions and millions of people all over the world are tuning in to hear the amazing performances by the great amateur singers they have and to laugh at the ones that have no singing talent whatsoever. I don’t have much talent as a singer, so I know where my talents would land me on American Idol. I would be one of those people that wouldn’t even get to finish their song and would be begging to the judges “oh wait; it gets better, just let me finish”. I guess you can either sing or you can’t. It should be interesting to see what new star emerges from the smoke of American Idol the most popular show on the tube and almost watched by as many people that tune in for the Super Bowl each year.

Bloggers Linking With Bloggers

Monday, January 14th, 2008

Bloggers are helping each other everyday by swapping links and comments on one another’s blogs. This is a great way to show traffic coming to your blog and building up the subscribers you might have to your blog. You don’t want to be blogging about something and no one ever reads your blog. You want your voice to be heard by as many people as possible. So getting your blog’s link on another blog or website is a great way to drive more traffic to your blogs. Each time you get your link on somebody else’s webpage, is the chance that more people will be coming to your blog from that link.

Now the search engines love this stuff and they look for websites that have a lot of links directing toward them. If the search engines see a lot of links pointing toward your blog, they then rank your blog high in the search engines, thinking that you have some good information that people are wanting to see. Once you get your blog or posts from your blog high in the search engines, that is when you can really start to attract more and more readers to your blog. People from all over the world then have the opportunity to land on your blog and read your thoughts and ideas. I like the fact that I can give credit and applause with my blog to people or things that need it. I also like the fact that I can vent in my blog, when I see something that is wrong or just not fair in the world we are living in. Attract more people to your blog and exchange links with fellow bloggers. Anyone that would like a link to this blog, just needs to leave a reply and I will be sure to to throw a link pointing to your blog.

Falcons Play Monday Night Football

Monday, December 10th, 2007

The same day Michael Vick has just been sentence to 23 months in prison for dog fighting charges, the Atlanta Falcons will have the national stage on television tonight against the New Orleans Saints. The Falcons don’t have much of a chance of winning the game tonight, so a lot will be dumped on the organization tonight.

It doesn’t take a genius to see how the Falcons could find their self in such a mess. Arthur Blank’s ideas of building a football team have not been no where near playoff football in the NFL and his desires to win a Super Bowl will never happen. You can’t build a football team on character. You have to start with talent and you can tweak the character issues later. The way Mr. Blank started the process, any football fan could tell right from the start it was doom. You must have talent on your team, before you can even think about winning in the NFL. The Atlanta Falcons continue to make the same mistakes over and over. They will need to search long and hard for a good GM once the season has ended. There is no way you can let the current GM keep his job, while he continues to pick one bad draft pick after another one. It should be interesting to see where the Falcons go in the post-Vick era.

Happy Birthday To Me!

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Well today was my birthday. I had a good birthday and I think I will remember this one for a long time. I usually have pretty calm birthdays, but this year it was an all day thing. I got woke up early and the day was filled with all sorts of activities that I did with my family and friends. I just got home tonight around 10 and I’m ready for a good night’s sleep. There was really no big thing that stood out, but just a lot of little activities that kept me running around all day long. I can definitely say this birthday has beat the last few that I have had and it really did feel like this was my day and not just another day in the year.

How Bout Them Dawgs!

Georgia Beats Florida!

What a great game on Saturday to see our boys from Athens kick some Gator butt! It was a great game between the border rivals of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida Gators. When it comes to water, we have had another battle there. We got them in football and now it might be time to stop our water from going down to the Sunshine State.

One of the best things in the game was when Georgia scored their first touchdown. The whole team from Georgia rush to the endzone and celebrated with the offense. The Florida team was visibly shaken from this move and their coach tried to ralley them. Florida’s coach “Oscar” Meyer “Winner” got a few Florida players to root on the defense when they came off the field, when Georiga kicked the PAT. Things would only get worse for Meyer as everything he tried against that tough Bulldog defense just failed. He even benched one of his players, because the center snapped the ball over his head. Florida’s coach for some reason thought that his player should have got the ball, even though it was over his head. Meyer is a poor loser and you can see that very clearly as his team was overmatched by the team from Georgia. I doubt Meyer will have a job much longer down there, the way he acts when his team is losing. He just yelled and blamed the players all game long and it was clear they haven’t seen a football team as good as Georgia this year.

A star is born in Georgia with Knowshon Moreno. This kid is the real deal and he’s only going to get better as a red-shirted freshmen. The sky is the limit for this kid and if Mark Richt will let him take over, the Bulldogs are going to win a lot of games.

GO BULLDAWGS………THAT A WAY TO HUNKER DOWN!!!

WHO LET THE DAWGS OUT?

WHO LET THE DAWGS OUT?

WHO LET THE DAWGS OUT?

So long Florida….we will see ya again next year in Jacksonville! Don’t even worry about revenge, because a lot of recruits just watched who the real men are, and all those recruits that were on the fence will now be flocking to the Georgia Bulldogs!

Trick or Treat

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Halloween is almost here! This is a great time of the year. We start to feel the first cool weather from the long hot summer days. All the kids are picking out their favorite costumes, so they can go spend the night on the town grabbing up all the goodies in their bags. It’s as much fun giving out the treats as it is to eat them!

What’s halloween without a few scares? A lot of the scary movies will start coming on television and I like watching them. Even though I have seen them a hundred times, it’s still fun to watch them over and over again. I also like a good haunted house too! I haven’t been to any yet, but would like to take one of my nephews to a good one. I’m not a big fan of those that are so dark, you can’t even see where you’re walking to, but sometimes those are the best ones. A good haunted house can even scare the adults a bit. You expect someone to jump out at you, but if that someone has a really creepy look to them, they can take your breath away a bit. Maybe I will find a good one and it will give me my money’s worth. BOO!

The Color of Money

Friday, October 19th, 2007

The Color of Money is one of the best movies ever! There isn’t a lot of pool related movies but this one has to be the leader with the Hustler coming in a close second. When you put Paul Newman and Tom Cruise in a movie and have them playing billiards, you have the parts of a great movie. That is exactly what the Color of Money is and if you haven’t seen this one, then just go put your pool cues down and get it today!

Fast Eddie Felson who is played by Paul Newman is a man with a plan. He is a hustler in every sense of the way. He’s ready to share his talents with this young kid he hears breaking the balls with authority. The young kid is Vincent who is played by Tom Cruise, and Fast Eddie offers to teach Vincent how to be a hustler. Vincent accepts the offer and the two plan to go to a big tournament in Atlantic City. Fast Eddie, Vincent and his girlfriend Carmen load up to go play in this big tournament, but they stop at all the pool halls along the way, so Fast Eddie can teach Vincent all the ropes. Vincent isn’t the best student in the world and really flashes his talent for everybody to see. Fast Eddie has a rough time trying to teach Vincent how to hustle and shows Vincent how he could be winning more money than he’s accustomed to.

If you play pool or know someone that does, then you must make sure that the pool player in your life sees this movie! It’s a 5 star movie for anybody that picks up the pool cues every now and then. I give it 4 stars for the people who have never played billiards before in their life! If you haven’t seen this movie yet; you might want to go ahead and get the Hustler and see a young Paul Newman in that movie first. It might make The Color of Money more understandable from the beginning, but it’s not a hard movie to follow at all. I would love to take a trip like the one Fast Eddie and Vincent took in this movie and stop at every billiard place I saw along the way.

On the snap Vincent
