Bloggers Favorite Topic

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

I wonder what bloggers blog about the most online today? I would imagine money ranks high if not the highest. Everyone loves money and it’s what keeps the world turning these days. It is only natural that bloggers would talk about money, show ways to earn money, or use their blogs in some monetary means to pay for domain and hosting costs.

I think current events is another topic that does well for bloggers. Talking about the latest news is always a good way to drive extra traffic to your blogs. You can still keep your niche intact and just sprinkle in blog posts about the latest news going across the Web or on the news. People will be more likely to visit your blog from the current event posts you write about and perhaps they will notice the other things your blog offers when they arrive.

The key is to get more traffic coming to your blog and writing some blog posts outside the theme of your blog is fine. You do need to have a main topic or two that the search engines can identify your blog from, so you get the higher rankings in the search engine listings. What are some more popular topics that bloggers like to blog about online today?

I don’t think celebs and movies is a bad idea and these are a couple of more topics that can drive more viewers or readers to your blog. If you take the time to blog about things, you do want people to eventually read what you said. Your main theme may not be enough to get traffic coming to your blogs, so going off-topic every now and then is ok. Many bloggers have a great skill in the topics they choose and couple this with their writing skills have made their blogs very successful. A successful blogger in some ways can be determined by the number of hits their blog gets. Some bloggers have the knack of driving traffic to their blogs and they don’t have the best writing skills in the world. These bloggers have been very creative in generating new visitors to their blogs, but if you want people coming back; then you need to write about interesting and popular things.

The title of your blog post and the subject matter is crucial for today’s bloggers. Many bloggers find it hard to get ranked on the search engines and struggle to find new ways of generating traffic to their blogs. If you’re a patient blogger and have great writing skills; then people will eventually discover your blog. It can take more than a year in some cases to establish enough links in the search engines, so you’re having a consistent stream of traffic coming to your blog. You must blog daily or about 3 times a week to achieve that steady stream of traffic.

The favorite topics for a blogger really isn’t that important. It’s the favorite topics for readers is the ones you need to key-in on and this will reap the best rewards for a blog that gets visited many times each day. Keep a positive outlook and don’t give up and you will soon be able to reap the rewards of your hard work. Just check out the popular search engines and see what people are doing internet searches for. This is a great way to learn about the “favorite topics” of readers and bloggers can capitalize on this, by blogging about the subject in their blogs.

Christmas Traditions

Monday, December 15th, 2008

My Christmas traditions seem to revolve around Christmas songs. I love to hear Christmas music every day leading up to Christmas Day. Once December 26 arrives, I don’t want to hear any Christmas songs being played anywhere. I have a couple of songs that I really like to listen to and I must hear them every year in order to celebrate Christmas properly. The Christmas song about a hippopotamus for Christmas and Christmas in Dixie by Alabama are two traditional songs that I must hear every year before December 25th. I have heard both of these songs for over 10 years now and I plan to keep this tradition going for at least 10 more years.

I have grown to love another Christmas song that many may have not heard of before. This is an Italian favorite for Christmas and I’m sure most Italians or people with some Italian blood will already know the song I am talking about. It’s the Dominick the Donkey Christmas Song and it really is a cute and catchy song, after you listen to it a few times. We don’t have a large Italian population in Georgia and I have never heard this song on the radio before. I’m sure it’s been played a few times over the air waves here, but I doubt many from Georgia would be familiar with this Italian classic. The Italian Donkey song has been around since the mid 60′s, so it’s not a new song, just one that isn’t played during the holidays. I believe Dominick the Donkey is going to join my other 2 Christmas songs I consider tradition and I will now have 3 songs that I must hear every year before I consider it Christmas time. I have heard all 3 of these Christmas songs for 2008, so I do consider it Christmas time now!

As an adult now, I think Chevy Chase’s National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is a traditional-like movie for me now. That is a great movie and I think it does a great job of showing what Christmas is like when you have a lot of relatives over. I know on Christmas Day we will get to see 24 hours of a Christmas Story and this has become tradition for me too and I like leaving the television on that channel for the entire day.

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

College Football in Georgia

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Saturday will be a fun day in the Peach State as both of our top 2 college teams will be in action today. The Georgia Bulldogs will face the South Carolina Gamecocks and this will be the toughest match up for them this year. They will have their kick off the same time as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will be kicking off against Virginia Tech. Both of these games will start at 3:30 local time and this means a lot of work with the remote control and trying to keep up with the action in both games. The Georgia Bulldogs are the top team in the nation and the Yellow Jackets are a top 25 team this year and maybe after Saturday, the state of Georgia can lay their claim on both of these titles.

College football is different in Georgia than anywhere else in the country. It’s a religion here and when we don’t get proper justice in the rankings, we let it be known. The best college football talent remains in the South and we prove that every week, yet the rankings still show teams from all over the country. The team’s that play on the West Coast and in the North do not have the talent to match up with the teams in the South. We are college football and deserve a bigger share of the pie and these people that think they know college football, continue to put the southern teams down. We have the bowl games to prove where the best college football is at in the country and Georgia is in the center of the best college football in America.

Cell Phone Danger in Kids

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

I have recently heard several reports that cell phones could be a danger to our little ones. Cell phones are still new to our society and enough time hasn’t passed yet for us to have a clear idea on the health risks associated with cell phone usuage. Apparently they are signs of radiation entering the brain when we talk on our cell phones. This could lead to humans having more brain tumors in the future and that seems to be the biggest concern right now. Since kids are still growing and haven’t fully developed their bone structure yet, it could possibly be doing them more harm than we know. A young child’s skull is much thinner than those in adults and the bone density could be a factor. Radiation from cell phones might be harming us all but the kids might be getting the worse of it.

If radiation from cell phones concern you and now you’re worried about your child’s safety, there is other people out there that totally deny these allegations. Some people say the radiation is so small coming from cell phones that it would take more than 100 years to see any effects from it and these would be the people that use cell phones constantly. Our own sun sends down radiation daily and if you walk outside, you are more than likely getting some. That is the reason we have all of the sun tan lotions and sun blockers on the market to help prevent some of these harmful rays. No one should be spending most of their days in the sun unprotected, because we know this is not safe. Maybe until we learn more about the radiation associated with cell phones, we should limit our use of them each day. Sometimes it’s better to be safer than sorry and I think this would qualify for one of those times.

Summer Fishing in the Morning

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

I like to go fishing during the cool mornings of the summer time. Often it’s too hot to fish during the summer days and if you wait until evening, it seems the light of the day disappears faster than the heat left from the hot summer sun. After the heat has had all night to escape, it’s great to get up as the sun is rising and throw a hook into the water. Grabbing up the rods, bait and slipping on your tactical pants and wearing your lucky fishing hat to a nearby lake or river in the AM is my type of fishing. The weather is cool at this time and it’s so nice to see a lake that is real still and the only ripples you see in the water is from a fish jumping up to eat it’s morning breakfast, from a bug that might have been trapped on top of the water all night long. The mornings are the best time to go fishing and even when you fail to catch one, you still got a chance to spend a morning with nature.

Howard Hughes Will

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

The story of Howard Hughes continues to live on and just as strange and mysterious as his life was while he was alive; it seems to get even stranger after death. It’s been said that Howard Hughes passed away in April of 1976 and I’m not even sure this is correct. It wouldn’t surprise me if the late Mr. Hughes died after this death date and to me that’s a mystery in it self when did Howard Hughes die?

One man in New York tried to write an autobiography for Howard Hughes and had Life Magazine convinced he actually had contact with Mr. Hughes. This turned out to be a false claim and through series of clever circumstances, the man in New York and his friend did get away with this scam for a long time.

When Howard Hughes was reported to have died in April of 1976, this brought in another twist to the legend behind the late billionaire. Melvin Dummars claimed that he picked up an old man in the desert during December of 1967. He picked the old man up near the Lida Junction in the Nevada desert and that man claimed to be Howard Hughes. Melvin Dummars was only 22 years old at the time and drove the billionaire Howard Hughes to the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. About 9 years later a mysterious stranger dropped an envelope off at a Utah gas station that Dummars was running at the time. He took this letter to a religious group and it was said that the estate of Howard Hughes was to be awarded to 16 individuals with Melvin Dummars as one of the 16. After the courts in Nevada disclaimed Dummars attempts and said the will was a forgery and was not the writing of Howard Hughes, the billionaires money has yet to be claimed today.

According to the will, Melvin Dummars would receive 156 million dollars from the money that Howard Hughes left behind. While this might be the most famous claim and this was helped with a 1980 movie called “Melvin and Howard“, it is still today the most legitimate claim. I think no one deserves the money more than Melvin Dummars and the courts in Denver now need to overturn Nevada’s ruling back in the 1970′s and let 156 million dollars in the Howard Hughes will go to Mr. Dummars. He deserves the money as much if not more than anyone else on record today. While it’s hard to prove his claims that he picked up the billionaire in the desert back in 1967, there just isn’t enough evidence on record today to disprove his claims. A former milkman from Nevada and now driving a frozen pizza truck in Utah, Melvin has seen his share on the roads I’m sure. He has spent a lifetime on the roads around where Howard Hughes was living and traveling and his story is believable to me. I think the courts need to correct an error in ruling all those years ago and award the money to a man that has probably seen a lot of things on the roads during his days. Melvin is a much older man now; compared to the days when he was in his twenties and working all the graveyard shift hours to provide for his families. I think Melvin Howard is a legitimate person to claim the money from the Howard Hughes estate and let’s hope the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver see it this way. No one can provide solid proof that Melvin Dummars is lying and that’s proof of enough for me, that after all these years that no will has turned up that has been more convincing that the one left by the stranger at a Utah gas station all those years ago.

First Tornado Ever in Atlanta

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

There has been some minor touch downs from twisters over the years, but never has a tornado touch down right in the heart of Atlanta. It caused significant damage in the heart of Atlanta and many popular areas were damaged. The Philips Arena, Georgia Dome, Westin Hotel, World Congress Center and the CNN Building were just a few places that got in the path of the twister Friday Night.

No deaths are being reported right now, but we figure we will get to learn more when daylight comes up. More storms are forcasted for the area and more damage may come to Atlanta and the North Georgia area. All the experts have no idea how a tornado would react in a big city like Atlanta. It’s not clear how the twister would go through a city with large building standing so tall. I will update this story further, when more comes available about the tornados in Atlanta.

When Life Hands You a Lemon

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

If life hands you a lemon, don’t make lemonade out of it. That’s the easy way out. Pick that lemon up and toss it right back at life. If you don’t make a stand at some point, when things are going terribly wrong for you, it will just continue. Sometimes you have to put your foot down and take control of the situation. Or you can just slice that lemon up and put it in your cold ice tea! Lemon works great in tea, lemon squares and not bad in cake either. So if your hungry hold on to that lemon; if not toss it like a rock and overhanded too!

Have you found your self on the wrong side of the lemon? Sometimes things just happen and we have no control over them. Your not always going to get a fair shake in life and you do have to tolerate things every now and then. Just remember tomorrow is a new day and maybe you will win the lottery and your life will be happily ever after!

IZEA Ranks Blogs

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Do you have a blog? Do you ever wonder how your blog ranks with some of the other blogs in the blogging community? IZEA has a great tool that allows bloggers to see how their blog matches up with other blogs floating around the World Wide Web. This blog ranking system is truly unique and it really does give a real ranking for your blog. It helps to keep track with visitors that are coming to your blog and what type of traffic is being delivered to your writing works on the internet.

How is IZEA RealRanks different from the Google Rankings? Google Rankings isn’t just for blogs and they look at all websites that are currently out there. Their system has been a “secret” for a long time now and many claim to know the secrets behind their rankings. I don’t think no one actually knows all the data that determines Google’s Rankings and that even goes for Google their selves! They have also recently changed their ranking system and have penalized bloggers for many different reasons. So why many depend on Google to determine rankings and are still respected in most industries; they do an injustice to the hard working bloggers and their blogs. This void in the ranking system is where IZEA has stepped in and took charge of the situation. Their RealRanks is for bloggers and bloggers only. It’s the only true ranking system I have seen for bloggers and if you’re a blogger needing to really see how your blog ranks; then IZEA is where you want to check all your numbers for the true stats!

You can still test your blog from time to time with Google, Alexa or any of those other places, but they don’t have the accuracy of the IZEA RealRanks. If this is your first knowledge of IZEA and their ranking system; don’t feel like you have been left out of the crowd. It’s new to a lot of us bloggers and IZEA’s RealRanks has only been around for a short time now. The important thing is your learning about it now and it’s spreading like wildfire through the blogging world and soon IZEA’s RealRank will be the only ranking system that bloggers turn to. Give your blog a try and see how your blog ranks and be sure to come back here and let me know how your blog did. My blog here (Single Source Writing) is around 200 and if your blog has a lower number than that, your beating me and can be proud, because it will be the real rank! Just be sure to embed the code and you’re all set to get your real ranks from IZEA!
