Falcons Play Monday Night Football
Blog Source December 10th, 2007The same day Michael Vick has just been sentence to 23 months in prison for dog fighting charges, the Atlanta Falcons will have the national stage on television tonight against the New Orleans Saints. The Falcons don’t have much of a chance of winning the game tonight, so a lot will be dumped on the organization tonight.
It doesn’t take a genius to see how the Falcons could find their self in such a mess. Arthur Blank’s ideas of building a football team have not been no where near playoff football in the NFL and his desires to win a Super Bowl will never happen. You can’t build a football team on character. You have to start with talent and you can tweak the character issues later. The way Mr. Blank started the process, any football fan could tell right from the start it was doom. You must have talent on your team, before you can even think about winning in the NFL. The Atlanta Falcons continue to make the same mistakes over and over. They will need to search long and hard for a good GM once the season has ended. There is no way you can let the current GM keep his job, while he continues to pick one bad draft pick after another one. It should be interesting to see where the Falcons go in the post-Vick era.

they never bothered setting up a system that worked when vick was around. mora jr. did more harm than good with mv7. why would they start to pull up their socks now? petrino was a bad decision. so was getting rid of schaub. i love them, but man, it’s a frustrating endeavour.

Yeah, I never thought either coach (Reeves or Mora Jr.) knew what they had with Vick. You have to put in a unique system with Vick and one that no one has ever seen before. QB’s typically rush for a few yards and then slide to the ground or go out of bounds to prevent injury. I think someone like Michael Vick should have ran until someone tackled him. You have to throw out all the rules that exist for the QB’s of today, when you have a player like Michael Vick. Dixon from Oregon looks like another special QB coming into the league next year and his new team will have to form something good for him to be effective too.
