Newport, Kentucky
Monday, December 31st, 2007I would like to travel to Newport someday and that’s the Newport in Kentucky. They have an aquarium there I would like to check out that’s called the Newport Aquarium. They say it’s a million gallons of fun and I bet it is. Newport, Kentucky is located in Campbell County. There is a lot to do in this growing city in Northern Kentucky. They are located real close to Ohio and Newport is at the confluence of the Ohio and Licking Rivers. The East Row District would be a great place to visit and see some of the structures that probably date back to Colonial times.
There are a lot of churches located in the area like the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church that appears to have a steeple that goes all the way to heaven.
There are a lot of great restaurants to eat at in Newport, Kentucky. One of the restaurants was even featured in the movie Rain Man that had Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise in it. Pompilio’s was the restaurant that had one of the scenes of Rain Main in it. Other notable restaurants in Newport are the Dixie Chili and Deli, Levee Perk, BRIO Tuscan Grille, The Pepper Pod, Dewey’s Pizza, Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant, Hofbrauhaus Newport, Beer Sellar, The Green Derby, Bar Louie, York Street Cafe, The Chart House, Jefferson Hall, Mocca Restaurant, Claddagh Irish Pub, and Mitchell’s Fish Market are just some of the great places you can eat at in Newport. Newport even has a Johnny Rockets and Hooters located in their Campbell County Home.
I think the riverfronts of Newport would be a great place to take a trip and hang out for a few days. I love small towns and Newport is still small enough to enjoy and it’s growing to a point that you have a lot of things you can do when you get there. So hopefully I will get a chance soon to see the rivers in Newport, eat at some of the great places and visit the Newport Aquarium too!
Christmas Returns
Monday, December 31st, 2007I see the stores are just as busy after Christmas as they were before Christmas. I know a lot of people have to take back gifts that don’t work, don’t fit or just want to exchange them for something else. I know this makes the retailers happy, because once you get the customers in the store, you can then sell them something else. So a lot of people will be going to these department stores just to make a return and will end up making a new purchase.
This is a good time to buy things and you will find some really good deals. The deals out there now are better than the ones on Christmas Eve Day. You probably seen a lot of signs in stores that day, that was stating this was your last chance for some great deal. The fact is, now is your last chance for a great deal. Most bargains are snatched up or prices go back to the norm after January 1st. So today will be the last day for many shoppers to find the really good discounts. If you look hard enough and are an avid shopper, you will see a few really good deals later on in January. Good luck on searching for the deals and let me know if you find any!
Help with Radiators
Sunday, December 30th, 2007I learned a very valuable lesson years ago and that was to never take off the radiator cap; while the radiator was still hot. Some of you might know what I am talking about if you have ever tried this. YouTube Sensation Sings Fergie
Sunday, December 30th, 2007The latest video of the You Tube Sensation from Mexico gives a song by Fergie a try. Alex gets back to her singing over at YouTube and the name of this song is Big Girls Don’t Cry. I’m not up-to-date on all the songs by Fergie, but I see Fergie has some other notable songs like London Bridge, Fergalicious and Clumsy.

So how did she do? I thought she did great! The title of her video over at YouTube reads: “My First Attempt of Big Girls Don’t Cry by Fergie”. Just imagine what her 2nd attempt might sound like?
Normally when I add one of Alex’s songs to my blog here at Single Source Writing, I notice she doesn’t have anyone linking to her video over at You Tube. You can check and see what the top 5 websites are for videos that link to You Tube videos. When I added Alex’s song Big Girls Don’t Cry, I noticed there were already 5 websites linking to the video. I think it’s just another sign at how the YouTube Sensation is starting to gain in popularity. Other notable You Tube stats that I see right now is that 71 comments have been left and this video has been added to “favorites” 16 times. If you haven’t seen many of Alex’s videos then please go back and look through them here at Single Source Writing. I have a subject heading on the right-hand side of the page (Alex YouTube) so you can quickly see all the videos she has over here. Subscribe to her videos over at YouTube and you can see some of the latest videos she is putting out these days. She’s been really busy and is in the middle of her first year of high school, so the videos are a bit slow right now, but Alex never seems to forget about her fans over at YouTube!
I think one of Alex’s strongest talents (when it comes to singing) is how she doesn’t over-sing a song. Many amateurs and especially the people putting out videos over at You Tube just over-sing songs. It’s best to stay within your vocal range and sing the song in your own way. The young You Tube Sensation from Mexico seems to always have the right speed, no matter what song she is singing.
It’s been a great year of 2007 and covering Alex’s videos to this point. I look forward to bringing you more videos and updates on Alex over at YouTube and see just where this young sensation goes from here. I can still remember how excited I was when Alex gave me permission to put up her videos here at Single Source Writing. So to reflect back on that time, I thought I would once again show the video, where Alex is talking about appearing on Single Source Writing.

Creating the most traffic possible to your website is the key. Now sometimes it can depend on the quality of those visits for the final numbers. Stocks To Watch In 08′
Saturday, December 29th, 2007I think the 2008 stock market has a bright future. If you’re not invested right now, this would be a good year to start. There’s a few concerns like housing, droughts, global warming, water shortages and high prices at the gas pumps, but if you can over look those things, you should be fine! Historically the markets always do well in the year of a new president being elected. So since 2008 is a presidential election and the Republicans try to hold on to the top spot, we should see a strong economy this year.
I would pay attention to Apple (AAPL), Research In Motion (RIMM), Amazon (AMZN), Google (GOOG), Citigroup (C), and Southern Copper Corporation (PCU). These are 6 strong stocks for 2008. Searching for ETF’s or Mutual Funds that have these companies in their top 10 holdings is another good way to invest in these stocks and the stock market. If we can just find a way to keep the water running in the Southeast and Southwest parts of the U.S., things sure do look bright for 2008!
Package Instructions
Saturday, December 29th, 2007Those Christmas gifts are getting harder and harder to figure out. The instructions are in so many languages now, it’s hard to find the english ones. Sometimes you can get a book with a technology gadget and it takes a long time just to find the english instructions. Usually the instructions are not that long, but when you write them up in 10 languages, they have to give you a book to cover all of them.
I’m not one that really follows instructions too well anyways. I’m more the type of person that just tries to eye-it-out and pushes and shoves things into place. Sometimes I end up breaking something that I shouldn’t, but I usually can get the thing to work a little bit! I just wish that manufactures would choose some other way of distributing their multi-language instruction books that they insert into their electronic gadgets.

Last Weekend To Shop!
Friday, December 21st, 2007I wouldn’t want to be in the malls this weekend. This will be the last weekend before Christmas and it’s when all the last minute shoppers hit the stores. You probably can find some descent sales, if you’re brave enough to face the crowds. This will also be the store’s last chance to sell you something before Christmas. If you haven’t got in the Christmas spirit yet this year, then just go to a mall or a department store this weekend and I’m sure you’ll get caught up in the Christmas spirit.
Be sure to save a little cash after Christmas too, because this is when you can find the best bargains of the year. December 26th is the best day of the year you can go shopping. You get to be first in line for all the good things stores are trying to get rid of, for a discounted price. The stores are usually pretty crowded the day after Christmas, but they are mainly people taking back things and exchanging gifts. Giant Rat Found In Indonesia
Monday, December 17th, 2007Scientists has recently discovered a giant rat in Indonesia. It seems we are always discovering some new species everyday and its usually some type of bug. Now that they have discovered this new rat, it makes you wonder just what else is crawling around the Earth. I don’t think many people will be happy to know that a new rat species is on our planet. Judging by the size of this new rat, I would say the cats wouldn’t even be happy with this. I couldn’t imagine most house cats attacking and killing a rat of this size.
Yeah that’s a pretty big rat!
A rat like that would be a Thanksgiving dinner for a whole neighborhood of cats. Even some of the rat traps you buy in the supermarket couldn’t do any damage to a monster like this. These rats are in Indonesia and hopefully one won’t jump on a ship and travel over here. I think this is one species that North America doesn’t need!
