I would like to travel to Newport someday and that’s the Newport in Kentucky. They have an aquarium there I would like to check out that’s called the Newport Aquarium. They say it’s a million gallons of fun and I bet it is. Newport, Kentucky is located in Campbell County. There is a lot to do in this growing city in Northern Kentucky. They are located real close to Ohio and Newport is at the confluence of the Ohio and Licking Rivers. The East Row District would be a great place to visit and see some of the structures that probably date back to Colonial times.

There are a lot of churches located in the area like the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church that appears to have a steeple that goes all the way to heaven.

There are a lot of great restaurants to eat at in Newport, Kentucky. One of the restaurants was even featured in the movie Rain Man that had Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise in it. Pompilio’s was the restaurant that had one of the scenes of Rain Main in it. Other notable restaurants in Newport are the Dixie Chili and Deli, Levee Perk, BRIO Tuscan Grille, The Pepper Pod, Dewey’s Pizza, Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant, Hofbrauhaus Newport, Beer Sellar, The Green Derby, Bar Louie, York Street Cafe, The Chart House, Jefferson Hall, Mocca Restaurant, Claddagh Irish Pub, and Mitchell’s Fish Market are just some of the great places you can eat at in Newport. Newport even has a Johnny Rockets and Hooters located in their Campbell County Home.

I think the riverfronts of Newport would be a great place to take a trip and hang out for a few days. I love small towns and Newport is still small enough to enjoy and it’s growing to a point that you have a lot of things you can do when you get there. So hopefully I will get a chance soon to see the rivers in Newport, eat at some of the great places and visit the Newport Aquarium too!

I see the stores are just as busy after Christmas as they were before Christmas. I know a lot of people have to take back gifts that don’t work, don’t fit or just want to exchange them for something else. I know this makes the retailers happy, because once you get the customers in the store, you can then sell them something else. So a lot of people will be going to these department stores just to make a return and will end up making a new purchase.

This is a good time to buy things and you will find some really good deals. The deals out there now are better than the ones on Christmas Eve Day. You probably seen a lot of signs in stores that day, that was stating this was your last chance for some great deal. The fact is, now is your last chance for a great deal. Most bargains are snatched up or prices go back to the norm after January 1st. So today will be the last day for many shoppers to find the really good discounts. I learned a very valuable lesson years ago and that was to never take off the radiator cap; while the radiator was still hot. Some of you might know what I am talking about if you have ever tried this. The latest video of the You Tube Sensation from Mexico gives a song by Fergie a try. Alex gets back to her singing over at YouTube and the name of this song is Big Girls Don’t Cry. I’m not up-to-date on all the songs by Fergie, but I see Fergie has some other notable songs like London Bridge, Fergalicious and Clumsy.

So how did she do? I thought she did great! The title of her video over at YouTube reads: “My First Attempt of Big Girls Don’t Cry by Fergie”. Just imagine what her 2nd attempt might sound like?

Normally when I add one of Alex’s songs to my blog here at Single Source Writing, I notice she doesn’t have anyone linking to her video over at You Tube. You can check and see what the top 5 websites are for videos that link to You Tube videos. When I added Alex’s song Big Girls Don’t Cry, I noticed there were already 5 websites linking to the video. I think it’s just another sign at how the YouTube Sensation is starting to gain in popularity. Other notable You Tube stats that I see right now is that 71 comments have been left and this video has been added to “favorites” 16 times. If you haven’t seen many of Alex’s videos then please go back and look through them here at Single Source Writing. I have a subject heading on the right-hand side of the page (Alex YouTube) so you can quickly see all the videos she has over here. Subscribe to her videos over at YouTube and you can see some of the latest videos she is putting out these days. She’s been really busy and is in the middle of her first year of high school, so the videos are a bit slow right now, but Alex never seems to forget about her fans over at YouTube!

I think one of Alex’s strongest talents (when it comes to singing) is how she doesn’t over-sing a song. Many amateurs and especially the people putting out videos over at You Tube just over-sing songs. It’s best to stay within your vocal range and sing the song in your own way. The young You Tube Sensation from Mexico seems to always have the right speed, no matter what song she is singing.

It’s been a great year of 2007 and covering Alex’s videos to this point. I look forward to bringing you more videos and updates on Alex over at YouTube and see just where this young sensation goes from here. I can still remember how excited I was when Alex gave me permission to put up her videos here at Single Source Writing. There’s really no big secret on how to get better search engine rankings. You need visitors and you need more visitors. Creating the most traffic possible to your website is the key. Now sometimes it can depend on the quality of those visits for the final numbers. For instance, is your traffic staying more than a minute at your website and are they clicking on links when they get there? These are things that can go a long ways in determing where your website ranks with other websites with similiar information.

Selecting a good meta tag and having a lot of keywords that are relevant to your website goes a long ways too. It’s always helpful when other websites has your link on their page. This is what the robots really search for when determing where your website will rank on the search engines. Your search engine listing needs to be catchy too, so when people do a search and find your website, they will want to click on the search engine link to get to your website. The bottomline is to stay active daily and do something everyday to push traffic toward your website. The search engine rankings will come and be sure to keep your website updated with fresh content.

I would pay attention to Apple (AAPL), Research In Motion (RIMM), Amazon (AMZN), Google (GOOG), Citigroup (C), and Southern Copper Corporation (PCU).  These are 6 strong stocks for 2008. Searching for ETF’s or Mutual Funds that have these companies in their top 10 holdings is another good way to invest in these stocks and the stock market. If we can just find a way to keep the water running in the Southeast and Southwest parts of the U.S., things sure do look bright for 2008!

Those Christmas gifts are getting harder and harder to figure out. The instructions are in so many languages now, it’s hard to find the english ones. Sometimes you can get a book with a technology gadget and it takes a long time just to find the english instructions. Usually the instructions are not that long, but when you write them up in 10 languages, they have to give you a book to cover all of them.

I’m not one that really follows instructions too well anyways. I’m more the type of person that just tries to eye-it-out and pushes and shoves things into place. Sometimes I end up breaking something that I shouldn’t, but I usually can get the thing to work a little bit! I just wish that manufactures would choose some other way of distributing their multi-language instruction books that they insert into their electronic gadgets.

I wouldn’t want to be in the malls this weekend. This will be the last weekend before Christmas and it’s when all the last minute shoppers hit the stores. You probably can find some descent sales, if you’re brave enough to face the crowds. This will also be the store’s last chance to sell you something before Christmas. If you haven’t got in the Christmas spirit yet this year, then just go to a mall or a department store this weekend and I’m sure you’ll get caught up in the Christmas spirit.

Scientists has recently discovered a giant rat in Indonesia. It seems we are always discovering some new species everyday and its usually some type of bug. I have a few tips and some advice that you might can use to get started with an affiliate program of your choosing.

CHOOSE SOMETHING THAT YOU KNOW

Make sure you have some general knowledge of what you’re promoting with your affiliate program. If you have an idea or understanding of your product or service, this will go a long ways into getting other people interested about the things you’re promoting. I like to fish, so it would make sense for me to get with an affiliate program that might sell fishing rods, lures and other things that would be related to fishing. I know that the warm months are when most of these items are purchased, so I have an understanding of what time of the year these products will be the hottest. Now I can use a search engine and look for “fishing affiliate programs” and I’m sure I could find a few out there that I could join. Most affiliate programs are free and they give you a small percentage of each sale you make. So I might be able to get a dollar for every 10 dollars of fishing supplies I could sell for a company.

Using the computer is the best way for me to get the most sales. So I could look to classifieds, newsgroups, social networking avenues, blogs, traffic exchanges and things like that, to help me promote my products. I would most likely have an affiliate page that customers could order from and this would keep track of all the customers I brought to my fishing affiliate company. Companies will use tracking links to help keep up with what customers you brought to them. In many cases these affiliate pages will leave a cookie on the people viewing your page from the computer and you could get credit days, weeks, or even months down the road for any items that person might make in the future. So you don’t have to have a direct sale to get credit in most cases.

PROMOTE MORE THAN JUST ONE WAY

When you start your affiliate program, don’t just have one way to get people to notice what items you have available. You might have one very effective tool that you know will work, but don’t limit yourself to just that idea. So I would try my best to target the folks of Minnesota and their land of 10,000 lakes. If you have access to where people are buying your products from or the company’s products, be sure to maximize your efforts in the geographical places people are buying these products. Information like this can be like gold, if you decide to use it to your advantage.

DON’T SPAM OR DRIVE YOUR CONSUMERS AWAY

Email advertising can be a very effective way to advertise. However, many folks don’t like getting a bunch of junk email from people that are trying to sell them something. Try to avoid spamming your potential customers and many affiliate programs frown at this practice and they might just cancel your affiliation with them. So make sure if you use emails to advertise with, you’re sending them out to people that want to see what you have to offer. You can attract a lot more bees with honey than to make them mad at your constant emails you might be sending them.

DON’T GIVE UP

Many people think they can start making hundreds or thousands a dollars right away from an affiliate program. In most cases this is only going to be a small secondary income for you. Affiliate programs don’t have any quotas that you must meet each period to stay in their program. At least this is the case with most affiliate programs. So once you sign up, you can stay in your affiliate program as long as you like. Since it’s free and you don’t have to pay any money to stay in them, don’t give up! Hang in there and try to do at least one thing everyday to help you possibly make a sale. If you have a referral page and you attract enough people to it daily over an extended period of time, then the search engines will pick up your page and you will be listed there, when people come looking for your products. Imagine if my fishing page got listed high on a search engine for the terms of “fishing supplies” “fishing lures” “fishing rods” “cheap fishing tackle”, I would expect anyone of these terms to drive more traffic to my affiliate page, if I was lucky enough to get them listed on the first page of Google, Yahoo, MSN or Ask.com. You can work your way to the top of the list if you just stay with your affiliate program and continue to do something each day that helps get visitors to your website. So don’t give up!

I see that Trusted Tours and Attractions have a lot of Southeastern U.S. cities that they keep up with. Since I live in the Southeast a lot of these cities would be a short drive for me. Atlanta, Memphis, Orlando, Savannah, Charleston, St. Augustine and Tampa Florida are just some of the great cities they offer information on. Another city that you can get interesting stories, travel tips and money saving offers from is Ft. Myers, Florida. When I was in the 3rd grade our class got to take a field trip to Fort Myers. I live 40 miles north of Atlanta, so Ft. Myers was a long way off from our school. We got to take advantage of a special offer from an airline in Atlanta. So I didn’t get to see much of Fort Myers then, but I have always wanted to go back and stay for more than just an hour. The same day Michael Vick has just been sentence to 23 months in prison for dog fighting charges, the Atlanta Falcons will have the national stage on television tonight against the New Orleans Saints. The Falcons don’t have much of a chance of winning the game tonight, so a lot will be dumped on the organization tonight.

It doesn’t take a genius to see how the Falcons could find their self in such a mess. Arthur Blank’s ideas of building a football team have not been no where near playoff football in the NFL and his desires to win a Super Bowl will never happen. You can’t build a football team on character. You have to start with talent and you can tweak the character issues later. The way Mr. Blank started the process, any football fan could tell right from the start it was doom. You must have talent on your team, before you can even think about winning in the NFL. The Atlanta Falcons continue to make the same mistakes over and over. They will need to search long and hard for a good GM once the season has ended. There is no way you can let the current GM keep his job, while he continues to pick one bad draft pick after another one. It should be interesting to see where the Falcons go in the post-Vick era.
