A Hawk Among Hawks

Monday, October 15th, 2007

The Atlanta Hawks have been an organization that has been on the brunt end of a lot of jokes lately. They have became the Clippers in the East and maybe just the Clippers of the NBA. One big difference right now is that the Clippers let guys walk and never wanted to pay out the money. The Hawks haven’t followed that road yet and from the multi-owner group that owns the Hawks, it appears they have some deep pockets. Not as deep with Belkin gone, but they have a few pennies to spend on B Ball in the Peach State.

So many different people have suggestions on what the Hawks need to do. Stay the course and let the young guys develop, bring in experience, get a new coach/GM, etc…

I would like to focus on a different view of how these Hawks from Atlanta can become a playoff team. They have one of the most amazing athletes in the NBA and in the world if you look at what the average man can do. I’m not sure anyone in the NBA has the raw skills of this young man and if he would have chosen college, he would still be there (due to being under 22 years of age). I’m talking about Josh Smith and by all accounts, he is a Hawk amongst the other hawks and I’m not talking about basketball players. This guy flies around in the air like an actual hawk and it’s amazing to see him leap against gravity and reach the heights he does.

I have seen players like Patrick Ewing, Shaquille Oneal, Dikembe Mutombo, and other 7 footers have such a presence in the lane and around the rim in a defensive manner. I have also watch under-sized guys like Charles Barkley and Ben Wallace have that same presence in the paint. Now Josh Smith is built more like a Mutombo, but his size would be more like Ben Wallace. It’s a recipe that would equal getting pushed around in the paint and not being an effective player on defense. However, when you see the product of Josh Smith and see how he controls the paint, it’s unreal how much of a Mutombo-like presence he brings on defense for the Atlanta Hawks. Forget where the Hawks list him in the line-up, and who he is matched up with defensively, because the guy keeps an eye on the paint for the Hawks.

There are not 12 guys in the Eastern Conference that are better than Josh Smith. He should be an all-star player, but playing in Atlanta he doesn’t get the recognition and no one in the NBA really know just how talented he is. They see a few highlight dunks or blocks and quickly write him off as the defensive guy with hops. He can shoot the basketball and many times he might just be shooting too far away from the basket. He needs that jump shot to keep players honest, but when you have the leaping ability he has, forget about honesty and start looking to expose.

I think he can put this Hawks team on his back and carry them to a playoff appearance in 2007/2008 Season.  It should be interesting to see how the Hawks fare against the Boston Celtics at Boston on November 9th. It’s not just a match up against the favorites to win the East this year, but it will be the end of a tough start to the season for the Hawks. They will play the Mavericks, Pistons, Nets, Suns, and then Kevin Garnett to start the season. If the Hawks win 3 of these 5 games, others will mention the Hawks in the same breath as playoffs. If they are 5-0 after the Celtics game, they will be mentioning the New England Patriots and Atlanta Hawks in the same breath. If they lose the majority of these games, then the Hawks will not even get mentioned, which will be a way to fly under the radar. You might think they couldn’t fly any further under the radar, but I think most people wait to those first few games of the season before they pick the winners and losers of the league.

Josh Smith is a good kid and his middle finger to the Charlotte Bobcat fans was a lot different than Michael Vick’s middle finger to the home crowd at the Georgia Dome. Michael Vick was on the sideline and had been there awhile as the Falcons game had already been settled. It was then he elected to show the rude gesture to the Falcon faithful. Josh Smith had just received a horrible officiating call and he let the referee know about it and got 2 technicals in his rage and did his gesture to the Charlotte crowd in the heat of the momment. So while the stars in Atlanta are making headlines with one of their digits, just know that Josh’s case was a lot different than the former number 7 in Atlanta.

Maybe the NBA will recognize him this year and he will get an All Star appearance for the Eastern Conference. If the Hawks are below .500, then don’t hold your breath Hawks fans. He is a top 10 player in the Eastern Conference and once the NBA recognizes it, he will not miss an All Star Game!

Fans are still talking about Carlos Boozer’s performance for the Utah Jazz and what he accomplished in the post-season last year. If Josh Smith gets his chance to play in a playoff series, LOOKOUT!

ATLANTA HAWKS 2007/2008 PREDICTION: 53 WINS AND 29 LOSES

NOTE: Atlanta Hawks @ Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008. This will be the first game for the 2008 year and against LeBron James and company. This is the statement game and this is where this organization will turn that magic corner!

If you’re searching for an air riffle for the kids Christmas this year or maybe you would like to have one yourself; then be sure to check with Pyramyd Air. They have a nice selection of air guns to choose from. You can find them for less than $100 and some of the really nice ones are available for a few hundred dollars. They come in many different styles, brands, and whatever power you’re seeking in an air gun.

I was noticing the Big Cat 1200 by Gamo and this gun really packs a punch. Most of your typical air guns will have a maximum velocity of 600 to 1000 feet per second. This bad boy has a maximum velocity at 1200 feet per second! Now that’s packing a punch! It can easily take out the small game around your house that you might want to get rid of. No small game is going to be a match for this air gun by Gamo. If you’re looking for a gun that has some pop to it; then this is the one for you!

detail_big_cats.jpg

Another thing that made me like this gun so much was the fact that so many people wrote reviews for it at Pyramyd Air. Almost all the air guns they sell, you usually can find some reviews about it. You can learn what people like about the air gun, what they would change about it, and what they didn’t like about it. So it gives you a good idea on which gun to select when you get ready to buy one. They also have plenty of accessories to choose from when you do decide which air gun you want. If you already own an air gun and just need something for it, be sure to check with them and see if they have it first!

Would you like to save 5% on your purchases from Pyramyd Air? If you find a mistake on their website; then they will gladly award you a 5% off coupon that you can use on any purchases you make at Pyramyd Air. So be sure to check and see if you can find any mistakes! (Maybe someone should tell them that isn’t the way to spell Pyramid?)

Hurricane Needed

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

The drought is never gonna stop it appears. We figured with Fall here now in the South that the rains would come, but that hasn’t happend yet. It’s gotten so bad, a local news station is going to be doing a 30 minute special just on the drought. At 6:30 EST on Sunday Evening, the ABC affiliate in Atlanta (channel 2 News) will be conducting an half hour show on the drought in Georgia. Many believe this is the worse one ever. We was lucky to have a few brief showers the other night, but the ground quickly soaked all of that up and we need more. LOTS MORE! I think as bad as it might seem to say, we need an hurricane in the Peachstate. I think we could do without all the power outages and wind damage that comes along with a hurricane, but all the wet stuff would be a welcomed sight.

I know I have lived my whole life in Georgia and I can’t recall it ever being this bad. We are under a 0 tolerance water ban in Georgia. Your first offense is just a written warning, but the 2nd time you get caught doing any outdoor watering, it could cost you as much as $100. Please try to conserve the water when you are washing dishes, brushing your teeth, taking showers, and only do clothes when you have enough to complete a full load. If we all pitch in just a little, I think we can make a dent in this awful drought and hopefully we can make it until the November Rains set in.

If you have any tips or tricks on how to save water, then please reply and if we all can save a drop here and there, maybe the fire departemnt will have enough when the next house or woods catch on fire. Lack of water like this is unsafe for all of us, so please try to conserve!

The Howard Miller Majestic Grandfather Clock is one of the clocks I would like to have in my living room. It’s a large curio floor clock from the Broadmour collection. It has a special cast dial that really brings out the elaborate corner spandrels and center disk with an astrological, blue moon phase. There are several other grandfather clocks you can choose from at Howard Miller. Let me know which grandfather clock you like the best?

Some of the other clocks you can find at Howard Miller are the Grandmother Clocks, Mantel Clocks, Wall Clocks, and even some watches. Also, be sure to look for their Home Decor, Fine Jewelry, and all the New Clocks that they have available right now.

Have you ever heard of the atomic clocks before? These things always have the correct time and it’s because a place in Fort Collins, Colorado keeps them all on time. It’s fascinating to learn how these atomic clocks work; for anyone that isn’t that familiar with the atomic clocks. You will also be able to find one of these atomic clocks for the road, if anyone needs a traveling atomic clock. Be sure to look at all the clocks Howard Miller has to offer, and let me know which one you own or would like to own!

Charlie Daniels Band in Cumming, Georgia

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

I went and saw Charlie Daniels last night live and in concert at the Cumming Fair, in Georgia. It was a pretty good concert and I enjoyed it. I’m not sure Charlie’s age, but the old man can still get down ( I mean that in the most respected way). So if you’re reading this Charlie, no offense to the age sir!

Charlie put on a great show and so did the rest of the members in his band. They threw some gospel in the concert and the crowd really liked that. Of coarse he finished off the night with that famous song “Devil Went Down to Georgia”. The concert only last about 1 hour and 45 minutes, but fans got their money’s worth, since you only had to paid the 5 dollar admission price to get into the fair. The concert itself was free and everyone that attended had great seats.

Rhubarb Jones (a local radio personality) was there and had a booth for the radio station. He’s a very nice man and was really good to all the fans that waited in line to see him. He was giving away small knick-knacks that were great.

The Cumming Fair in Georgia will be running until October 14th (Sunday) if anyone is still wanting to go out there and see everything the fair is offering. It’s really a treat for the whole family and I strongly encourage everyone to go; if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet. There is tons to do and the Funny Clown in the dunking booth is a must-see attraction. Stop by for a sec. and listen to him make fun of all the patrons at the fair. It’s really good entertainment! Be sure to let me know if you’re planning on going to the fair or feel free to tell your stories if you have already been!

essay online editing

When I was in college one of the toughest part of school were the year end essay or dissertations that we had to complete. This was to take a case study and apply what we had learned and make our recommendations to the class. Each paper was graded  on your ability to articulate the why and how a company would survive long term with the correct marketing tools. I had class members who were very good at the research end and I could deliver the presentation. So it was essential to find the right classmates to team up with on a given project to pull from the strengths of each team member. Todays students can create online essays which has lead to more plagiarism as the internet has made it too easy to find topics that have already been written and then just re-write the content. Standoutessay.com offers high quality a custom writing service for international students to help in their  research papers, term papers and dissertations. They allow for the student to be involved in every step. They provide a 100% no  plagiarism guarantee for the custom writing services. This way you have at your disposal an editor who will help proofread every assignment and assure that the writing style and content will match your particular ability and style.

Varsity in Atlanta, Georgia

Friday, October 5th, 2007

For anyone visiting the Peachstate for the first time has to eat at the Varsity. There is one location in downtown Atlanta and they are a few more scattered around the state, but the original is in Atlanta. It’s the taste of Atlanta and it is shown many times on television when a sporting event is in town. It’s our Statue of Liberty in Georgia and the great tasting food backs that up.

They have simple items on the menu like hamburgers, hotdogs, onion rings, fries, and hot wings. The Frosty Orange is one of the staples of this great restaurant in Georgia. I guess the hotdogs would be 2nd because it seems most people prefer the hotdogs over the other food items. I like the hamburgers better, but no matter which one you choose, be sure to get chilli on it! The fries are as good as anybody’s, but it’s the onion rings that I like to go for. They are really big onion rings and they have real onions in them, and are not like some of the fake onion rings you get at other fast food restaurants. If you visit Atlanta or come through Georgia, then it is a must that you stop at the Varsity in Atlanta, Georgia.

Temporary Dental Repairs

Friday, October 5th, 2007

I think some of the most sensitive nerves in the body are found in the mouth. It’s amazing just how much pain a toothache can cause sometimes. Now one of the most excruciating pains I ever had was when my cap came off and I just had a partial tooth and a raw nerve on that tooth expose. It was so painful and the local emergency room really can’t do much for you. It happen on a weekend and that made it worse, because I had to wait until Monday before I could get to the dentist office.

Now if I would have had Dentemp OS it would have made a difference. I didn’t know stuff like this was available on the market. It was invented by a dentist and it is designed to be first aid for dental pains. This product is going to help a lot of people out and allow people to cure their own dental aches. There is no mess with Dentemp OS and you don’t have to mix anything together. It’s ready to use right out of the little container it comes in. You can get 6+ repairs from each little tub you get. This product works great for loss fillings, loss crowns, or any filling or crown repairs you might need to do. This is a product that everybody will want to stock in the medicine cabinet in case of an emergency. So maybe we can worry less when a temporary dental repair needs to be made.

This product does meet all the requirements for the FDA. Using Dentemp OS is a great idea for anyone needing to cement those crowns or fillings back into place, and the most amazing part is you will be able to eat in 30 minutes after making your dental repairs!
