Baseball in October

Blog Source 1 Comment »

I love to watch baseball in October. If there is baseball in October, then there is a pretty good chance you’re watching the post season. The National League wild card is going to be fun to watch as 5 teams are trying for it right now. I think you have the Mets, Phillies, Padres, Rockies, and Braves who have a shot for it right now and it goes in that order who is most likely to get it. Now the Mets and Phillies could be the two teams that make the post season, because the winner of their division gets an automatic bid in the post season. So the Mets or Phillies will definately see the post season. So what team do you want to see win it all this year? Let me know what group of 25 players is best suited to make a run in the playoffs this year and the road to the World Series. Should be fun to watch!

10 Things Home Depot Doesn’t Want You To Know

Shopping source 3 Comments »

Home Depot is one of the most admired American companies that is out there today. They have just moved into the top 100 for American companies and are listed as the 187th largest company in the world. Now while they have been very successful and still have room to grow, I’m here to tell you 10 secrets that the company doesn’t want you to know.

10. Their hammers are actually made in China. Not good for an American company that prides itself on being so patriotic to its employees and customers.

9. If you spell Home Depot backwards, it says “Toped Em Oh”. That is the message they send out to all the family owned hardware stores in the world. They thrive on being on top and they let out a big “OH” when they knock off another small/family owned hardware store.

8. Fidel Castro actually started Home Depot. Bernie and Artie bought the store with a couple of tractors that both of these rednecks owned their self and traded them to Fidel for the hardware store. Fidel needed them for his sugar cane crops and it turned out to be a pretty good deal for both parties. Cuba is one of the leading nations of sugar, and Home Depot is 2nd in the home improvement business, next to Lowes.

7. The “Do It Yourself” slogan is exactly what you get when you visit a Home Depot store. No workers are around for customer service and if you want anything they have to sell, then you will have to “Do It Yourself”.

6. That they sponsor Tony Stewart in Nascar Racing.

5. That all aisles are exactly 49 inches apart. This is due to an agreement that every Home Depot has an arrangement with all the local funneral parlors in town, that in case of an emergency and the caskets couldn’t be buried, then Home Depot would store them in their stores. Apparently 49 inches is the perfect width to have a casket and men on each side of it, to tote it down the aisles. Be sure to notice this distance the next time you are in their store, going down the aisles.

4.All Home Depot stores have a basement in case of a tornado, hurricane, or nuclear war. No New Orleans residents were allowed to use these basements during the Hurricane Katrina time, because apparently the local casinos moved into these spaces so business could continue as usual for the casinos.

3. Each person you see in a Home Depot commercial is actually a real employee and they save thousands of dollars by not using paid actors and actresses. After shooting the commercials, they are quickly transferred to the Nome, Alaska store and are assigned yard duty. Which the “yard” in Nome is 12 foot of snow 10 months out of the year.

2. That all the ceiling fans you see rotating in the store and on the commercials are actually plugged into a 1/2 mile - 1 mile drop cord that is plugged into a Wal-Mart socket. That is why you always see a Wal-Mart located close by a Home Depot.

1. That the sports team, president Arthur Blank owns (Atlanta Falcons) are used for placing bets for dog fights and football skills are not required. The players pretending to be football players are actually just used for their dog fighting connections.

Now you know the top 10 things that Home Depot didn’t want you to know. I will be back later to let you know what the top 10 things McDonalds uses for hamburger meat and cows isn’t one of them!

More Fruits and Vegetables

Consumer source No Comments »

Everyday we are learning more and more nutritional values we can get from our fruits and vegetables. If you think getting that number 1 value meal at your fast food restaurant is nutritional enough, then you’re dead wrong! Those fast food meals might include some pickels, tomatoes, onions, or potatoes with it, but that’s not enough vegetables for your body. You need so much more than just the typical fast food meal can offer.

Consumers need to spend more time in the produce section selecting things for their families to eat. Don’t just run through the produce section at your local supermarket, while your’e taking your time picking up the best meats. Find out things your family can eat and let them get more nutrition in their diets. An apple or a few grapes can be so beneficial to the human body and especially if that person isn’t eating any at all. Just a little extra fruits in the diet, can help the body to maintain a healthier balance. See if your family likes any raw vegetables? Anything that you could find on a salad bar or maybe just eating a small piece of raw cabbage they would like. Again, just a tad of raw vegetables in your daily diets, is better than abandoning the whole food group diet all together.

Don’t worry about the fatty salad dressings, eating the salad is far more important, then just trying to avoid salads because of the dressings you need to make them tasty. You don’t have to become a vegetarian, just find a way to grab a little fruit and vegetables into your diet each day and within 1 week’s time you will see and feel the difference from a healthy diet!

8 Stocks Under $10

Business Source No Comments »

A list of 8 stocks were listed on a recent MSN article that you can buy for less than 10 dollars. These stocks got brought to the top from an extensive screen test. All of these stocks look like they could move higher and if you’re looking for an investment that you can purchase a lot of shares in for a low price, then this might be your ticket. Check out these 8 stocks and see if they are right for your portfolio. Be sure to do your own homework on these stocks.

1. Art Technology Group (ARTG)
2. Actuate (ACTU)
3. Medifast (MED)
4. Netlist (NLST)
5. RealNetworks (RNWK)
6. STEC (STEC)
7. Silicon Image (SIMG)
8. Website Pros (WSPI)

Most of these stocks fall in the technology sector. Don’t let that scare you and you could invest in all 8 of these stocks and still be diversified. Many of the stocks appearing in the same sector, still operate in different fields and if one stock was hurt because of a technology crunch, doesn’t mean others would be.

I would hold off for a few weeks before I invested in these 8 stocks. I’m sure the MSN article will send a lot of investors out to buying these stocks in large quanities. I would wait until the rush is over and look for a pullback and buy these stocks at a price for less than what they are trading at right now.

Time in the Yard

Shopping source No Comments »

I would like to have some time in the yard. I don’t mean extra time or just time; I literally mean time in the yard! The kind of time that you can read from an instrument and know what time of day it is. Yes, I would like for my time in the yard to be a clock. Does that sound strange? I’m sure it probably does, but I found a clock that I think would look good out in the yard. So that is why I’m thinking I need time in the yard!

I’m talking about a nice street clock that would look good out in my yard. It would add prestige to my yard. I know people don’t use these street clocks to put in their yards, but I like to be different. I think having a time instrument that could be seen by anyone outside, would be a nice little luxury to have. I would be known as the guy in the neighborhood that has the clock out in his yard. So people would know how to get to my house if they needed to find me. Just look for the clock out in the yard. Not much of a chance that they would confuse me for someone else if I had a clock out in my yard.

I could buy one of these street clocks at 1-800-4Clocks.com. They have a few to choose from and a great selection of wall clocks. It’s a great place to go for anyone that is needing a clock. You don’t have to be a nut like me that wants one in the yard, but you could get a grandfather clock, atomic clock, or any normal type of clock from their huge selection of clocks.

For anybody that is a clock collector would enjoy looking at all the different clocks at 1-800-4clocks.com. They also have a blog that has a wealth of information that clock-lovers would enjoy. I enjoyed reading a couple of different posts they had on the atomic clocks. These clocks are amazing and they always have the right time. A place out in Colorado keeps all the atomic clocks on time and you can read more about these amazing atomic clocks in their blog. One of the post was titled “Atomic Clocks Always Show You The Correct Time” and it explains how the place out in Colorado can keep these clocks on time.

So if you need a clock (like me); then 1-800-4clocks.com is a great place to start. Once you see all the clocks they have, you won’t need to go anywhere else. Now let me go see how to install one of these street clocks out in my yard!

Daytona, Florida

Travel Source No Comments »

It looks like I will be taking a trip to Florida in the next year or so. The place where my mama works has a place in Daytona and they let the families at her job take turns in going down there for a week’s vacation. So we will be taking our trip down there one of those weeks.

It will probably be next summer when we make the trip down to Daytona. We have made this trip in the past and I look forward to going back down there for a vacation. Daytona is right on the beach and it’s on the East Side of Florida’s coastline. There is a lot of things to do down there and they are probably known best for their racetrack. It’s where they have the Super Bowl of Nascar Racing every year and is the first race of the Nascar Season. It’s also the place they hold a Saturday Night race around the 4th of July and it’s just as popular as the Daytona 500 is. That racetrack is ok, but I also love the racetrack that is right beside that one. It’s where the dogs race and is a great place to watch those greyhounds fly around the track. I won the biggest bet ever at the Daytona Greyhound Track and that’s saying a lot as many times as I have been to the greyhound track.

There is some good food that is available in the area too. I love eating fresh seafood and Florida has a ton of places that have great seafood items on the menu. I will be sure to stop at a few different restaurants, to get my seafood craving took care of. Fresh produce is available in the Daytona area too and you can find good prices on the fresh food that is grown locally down there too. I will be sure to come back and let everyone know when I set a date to go down to Daytona, Florida.

Seattle Blogger Talks Property Management

Blog Source 2 Comments »

A blogger in Seattle has a blog called Raven’s Brain. This Northwest blogger uses their Raven’s Project Management Blog to write about all sorts of things. The blogger considers their self a writer, drummer, music lover, rambler, movie fanatic, motorcycle mama, and partime couch potato. So you can imagine the range of posts this blogger puts in their blog.

This blog is full of information and they do such a nice job in adding pictures and links in to their posts, so the readers can get a better understanding to the topic of each post. You can tell that this person does enjoy blogging by all the details and effort that they put into their post. Some bloggers use their blog just to jot down a few details, while others go all out and provide a wealth of information to their readers. This blogger from Washington is the latter of the two and it’s great to see someone so passionate about their blog and what they write in their blog.

Both sidebars of the blog have a lot of information in them too. You can scroll up and down both sidebars and you will probably see at least one thing that catches your eye. The blogger’s occupation is a project manager and the theme seems to be surrounded by things related to project managing. If you’re a project manager or maybe you’re currently taking classes or training to get a project manager’s position, then this is a blog you will want to look over. I would imagine this blogger would be someone great for advice, considering all the efforts they put into their blog online.

I’m glad this blogger uses their blog to speak about something they are so passionate about. I’m about the same age as this blogger and I’m still just letting the wind blow me around. I wish I had the direction about a career field in my life. I’m not too familiar with the position of a property manager, but seeing this blog does spark my interest. If someone else is willing to be so devoted in their career choice and uses their blog like they have done, it makes me want to learn more about being a property manager. I would like to see if I had the skills or what classes I might need to take, to start a life as a property manager. I’m sure I can learn more about being a property manager from Raven’s Brain!

Where Were You? When 9/11 Occurred?

Social Source 15 Comments »

I am a little too young to remember when Elvis Pressley died and I wasn’t even born when JFK was shot in Texas. I have heard that people that were around for these tragic events always remembered where they were at or what they was doing.

FREEDOM ATTACKED BY A FACELESS COWARD

I wanted to find out about the 9/11 stories and see what people were doing when those planes first hit the World Trade Center Towers 6 years ago in New York. That day would get worse as the Pentagon and a plane crash in Pennsylvania would follow the tragic happenings in New York. Today we are still paying the price as our brave men and women continue to defend our country and the world’s freedom in countries like Afghanistan where our military chose that as the first strike in response to 9/11.

My 9/11 story is pretty simple, but I will never forget it. I was online playing spades and had been up all night playing them. I was getting ready to go to bed that morning when someone came online and mentioned the World Trade Center was on fire. I got off the computer and figured I would watch that as I went to sleep that morning. While watching it on television, I saw the 2nd plane hit the WTC building. I thought it was a water-plane trying to put water on the other tower that was on fire. The station I was watching quickly determined that this was a terroist act and that water-plane I saw was actually a large jumbo jet. Those buildings in New York were so massive, they made those big jets look like a small airplane. I didn’t go to sleep that morning and I spent the next several days watching the constant 24 hour coverage that was on our television screens.

I don’t think many people realize just how devoted our television stations stayed with the 24 hour coverage they did on the events of September 11th. It was on a Tuesday Morning when it all started and for the main outlets of ABC, CBS, and NBC, they didn’t show a commercial until Sunday Evening around 5 or 6 in the evening that was about 5 days after it all started. It’s unthinkable to imagine how those news stations was able to deliver 24 hour coverage of this event for the next 5 days like they did. When they did finally show that first commercial on tv, it was a 9/11 or Red Cross related commercial. Our slogan for that day became known as “WE WILL NEVER FORGET”, and I hope that remains true for the rest of my life living in this great country of ours.

So many people are quick to point out the mistakes by our adminstration, the President, and the way our troops are still dying in places like Afghanistan and Iraq. Before you start pointing the finger at whose fault it is, and why our troops are still sheding blood over in the Middle East, just remember who started this and who the real enemy is.

I would like to hear your September 11th story. If you remember what you was doing, how you heard about it, and what your first thoughts were when those planes were drove into the buildings in New York, then please leave a reply. It’s been 6 years since all of that has happend and now we get a chance to reflect on it again, as this September 11th will be on a Tuesday in 2007.

Two Videos of Alex Singing

Alex YouTube No Comments »

Alex has a couple of new videos out of her singing over at YouTube. The young YouTube Sensation continues to show a great singing voice; singing some difficult songs to sing. This first video is from an Avril Lavigne song. Alex does a great job singing Avril songs as she has shown in the past.

I Can Do Better by Alex

This next video is a song by Evanescence. It takes an amazing vocal range to perform this song and Alex does a great job singing it. I don’t think too many singers could pull this song off as well as Alex did on her webcam at YouTube.

Alex Sings Imaginary by Evanescence

So two more great videos that Alex has displayed of her singing skills. Stay tuned and the next video will be Alex talking about herself and giving out some information about the life around her.
